Cecil Shorts - post-combine rankingben 3-4. kört jósoltak, be is jött a jóvoltunkból. Igazából nincs ezzel bajom.
Chris Prosinski & Rod Isaac: te atya Úr Isten. Kínos, végtelenül kínos. Két potenciális UDFA. Prosinskira is azt találtam, hogy a bele kell tanuljon az NFL-be... azaz semmire sem lesz jó a közeli jövőben. l... Rod tippem, hogy szeptember végén már szobafestőként kamatoztatta volna képességeit, ha nem kerül ide. Ez egy teljesen felesleges pick volt, kb a PSba is le lehetett volna igazolni bármikor a nyár folyamán. Tudom, hogy k.rvára nem értek én a témához, de álltom, hogy Rod helyett tudtam volna hasznosabb játékost draftolni, és ha Gene belehabarodott a srácba, akkor vitte volna el UDFAban (bár gyanítom, hogy még ott is megmosolyogták volna).

Összességében: 1,3,4/1 rendben van részemről. (én is csodálkozom magamon, hogy nem vagyok kritikusabb, de holnap még meggondolhatom magamat 😉 ) Ezek mutatnak valamilyen (jó) irányba. De a vége abszolút érthetetlen. De ha az első 3 beválik, tulajdonképpen lesz@rható, hogy a két kutyaütő kap párszázezer dollárt ha felküzdik magukat a roosterre egyáltalán az elkövetkező 2-3 évben... Ha Gabbert beválik (rodgersi magasságokról beszélek), akkor a Jags Jacksonvilleben tud maradni, és elindulni a PO teli jövőbe, ahol mondjuk 5-6 éven át is stabil PO vagy PO közeli csapat lehet a városban. OT és WR is illik a koncepcióba. És ezek után az FA piac egyértelmű élharcosaként tekinthetünk a Jagsre. Mindenkire alkudnak majd, röpködnek majd a milliók. CB,S,LB egyaránt a legdrágább fajtákból. Én az LB-t se venném ki a sorból, mert baromi fontos lenne ott is Pro-Bowler kaliberrel erősödni. Visszahozni az elmúlt szezonban túlságosan kiemelkedőt nem mutató játékosokat, nem lenne a fejlődés irányába mutató cselekedet (max ha ez a plan "Zs").

Ha az utolsó két picket összevonva feltradelt volna Gene egy racionális játékosért ("ne adj Isten", egy stealnek számító tehetségért), akkor összességében én egy B (C+) adtam volna 4 játékos behúzására. Így persze annyira nem vidám a kép, de briareos kommentje (csatolt képek miatt) kicsit mindig megvidámítják a kedvemet 😉

Terry McDonough, Jak Del Rio és Gene Smith értékelése- fontosabb megjegyzések.

1. "We'll be very active in pro free agency." -Terry McDonough
2. McDonough says draft might have made more sense to fans had free agency occured before the draft.
3. McDonough said this was not a strong draft for the defensive areas the Jaguars are looking for.
4. McDonough says Prosinski will be in the mix to start at FS. "He will compete with Don Carey and wheover else we might have"
5. McDonough said Blaine Gabbert is the biggest decision Gene Smith has made since he has been the GM.
6. McDonough compared the selection of Isaac a little to Cox. Said he could play as a nickel or a corner this season.
7. I told Mel two days ago, mel just relax, trust what we're doing." Terry McDonough on what he told Jaguars defensive coordinator Mel Tucker
8. JDR says Cecil Shorts will have a chance to be the team's No. 3 WR this season, behind Jason Hill and Mike Thomas
9. JDR on Isaac: "He's going to contend for the nickelback spot. I'm in that group of people in the building who are excited about tape I saw."
10. JDR says doubtful that the Jaguars go anything but defense in veteran free agency
11. Del Rio: "We saw tremendous value and we were able to acquire a franchise quarterback and a starting interior offensive lineman early in the draft."
12. JDR says he's better equipped to handle quarterback situation than early in his career.
13. JDR discussed drafting long-term instead of immediate defensive help. "I'm not motivated by the fear or hanging onto this job," Del Rio said. Said he's motivated by making the right decisions long-term for the team.
14. Gene Smith says free agency will focus on defense.
15. Gene Smith on small school drafting: "Grade the player, not the school."
16. Gene Smith on Cecil Shorts: "For a guy from a Division III school, he's further along than what you'd think."

17. Gene Smith on Shorts: "We feel like he'll come in and compete for playing time."
18. Smith calls Rod Issac one of the most physical defensive backs in the draft. Will compete right away for third CB spot.
19. Gene Smith says he expects the Jaguars to sign 2-4 players in pro free agency. Confident it will be enough to help defense with players returning.

Kérnék minden Jax szurkert, hogy NE keressen a választásokban logikát mert nincsen, úgyhogy felesleges kínoznunk magunkat! Lényeg, hogy mindenki hülye, csak Smith a helikopter 😉 JDR-nél is elgurult valami, hogy ehhez a nevét adta. Ezek után az első két pick "furcsaságai" apróságok.

CB Rod Issac from Middle Tennessee az utolsó pick(?) idén.

In the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select Rod Issac from Middle Tennessee State with the 147th overall pick. Rod Issac was voted First Team All-Sun Belt conference at the cornerback position for the 2010 season. Issac wowed some NFL personnel at his Pro-Day back in March, being clocked as low a 4.38 in the 40-yard dash. He also posted 22 reps of 225lbs on the bench press. Issac posted a short shuttle of 4.12, three cone of 6.90, broad jump of 9-foot-7, and a vertical leap of 34".

The 5-11, 196lbs cornerback played 4 years at MTSU in the Sun Belt conference and finished off his senior season with 49 tackles, 2 forced fumbles and 3 interceptions. Issac is a corner with speed to burn and Tim Mingey, the Jaguars Assistant Director of College Personnel, was at the MTSU Pro-Day to observe Issac.

Past 3 years, GM Gene Smith has selected 14 of 20 draft picks from non-BCS conferences and 10 of 20 were from non-FBS schools

Josh Buchanan, a small school expert, ranked Shorts as the 18th best small school player and the 4th best receiver behind Edmond Gates, Stephen Burton and Andre Holmes, the latter two whom have not yet been selected. Buchanan projected Shorts to be drafted in the 6th or 7th rounds.

"I think Shorts can have an impact in the NFL. I'm not sure he will have the same level of impact that Garcon has had because Garcon is a bit faster and more explosive but Shorts is certainly just as productive, a refined route runner, and versatile. The Jaguars get one of the most dynamic small-school pass catchers in the draft with the addition of Shorts. He is a polished route runner with outstanding hands and big-play ability. If he transitions quickly to the pro game, he could become a pivotal part of their passing game in the near future.

Chris Prosinski:
The Jaguars have struggled in the back end at the safety position. Prosinski isn't a dynamic playmaker against the pass, but he is a factor as a run defender. He gives them a viable backup option at either safety spot, while also adding a high-motor special teamer to their kick coverage units.
A kiemelt mondat után nem tudom hova tenni a dolgot. Hoztunk egy főleg futás ellen jó safetyt(Greene is tudja ugyanezt), aki inkább tartalék (Miért hiszem azt hogy Eric Weedle az 1. számú célpont FA-ben?...). Jó ST-s játékosokkal tele a ház. De majd Gene megmagyarázza ezt is...
Amúgy Prosinkski egész életében FS-t játszott.

Amúgy szinte biztos hogy Kirk Morrison és/vagy Durant vissza fog jönni.
