Márpedig Carson sémájában Lambert-é volt a Pipe zone, ami akkor persze még nem ezt a nevet viselte. Ő volt az első mély 2/3 zóna LB ami később sokminden újdonság alapját szolgáltatta.
Viszont tény, hogy ebből adódóan Ham-é volt a főszerep "odalent" és tudta kamatoztatni azt amit később utódjai, Brooks vagy Greenway is. Bár bevallom nem tudom, hogy a Steelers dinasztia erős/gyenge, vagy jobb/bal sémában játszott, de megkockáztatom hogy erős/gyengében. Egy elég obskurus play a Steelers régmúltjából, de több okból is érthető előkelő helye.

1. Az ellenfél. Az 1950-es években még az Eagles számított a Steelers legfőbb riválisának. Egy csoportban küzdöttek és persze két pennsylvaniai csapatról beszélünk.

2. A körítés. A meccsen rekordszámú néző látogatott ki a Steelers akkori otthonába a Forbes Fieldre. Ez ugyan alig volt több, mint 30000, de a kor mércéjével mérve nem volt csekély szám.

3. A Steelers irányítója. Jim Finks-et jobban ismerhetjük a Vikings, a Bears és a Saints front office-ában végzett tevékenységéért, ebben a minőségében lett Hall of Famer, de nem szabad megfeledkezni róla, hogy ő hajdanán aránylag sikeres játékos volt. On the first two plays of the drive, Cunningham completed a 12-yard pass to Michael Haddix and then ran 12 more yards for another first down.

Two runs by Haddix and Keith Byars put the Eagles at the Giants’ 13 for third down when Ryan decided to go for the field goal.

Zendejas came on to attempt a 31-yard field goal that would give the Eagles a win and force a tie for first place with the Giants.

But Zendejas’ kick never made it beyond the line of scrimmage as Taylor busted through the middle to block the kick where it was picked by Eagles defensive lineman Clyde Simmons, who was part of the Eagles’ field goal unit.

Simmons started to run toward the end zone and was able to run through several Giants defenders into the end zone for a shocking game-winning touchdown.

The Giants protested that the play was illegal since a kicking team can not advance a blocked field goal or punt if the ball goes beyond the line of scrimmage.

However, Simmons picked it up at the 15, two yards behind the line of scrimmage, thus making it legal and giving the Eagles a 23-17 overtime win over the Giants.

Another thing that made this victory so improbable for the Eagles was that came one day after the tenth anniversary of their famous “Miracle at the Meadowlands” win

The two teams finished the season with identical 10-6 records, but because of their season sweep of the Giants, the Eagles won the NFC East and advanced to the playoffs, while the Giants were left out."

"A major surprise of the NFL season was the first Brown- Giant game, won 6-0 by the Giants, the first time the Browns were ever shut out. The Giants had been the greatest beneficiary of the collapse of the AAFC when they obtained center John Rapacz from the old Chicago Hornets, plus six former Yankees, including five defensive players who were to help form one of the best known and most innovative defenses the NFL has ever seen.

Defensive tackle Arnie Weinmeister was the keystone of the line while Tom Landry, Harmon Rowe, and Otto Schellenbacher combined with Emlen Tunnell to form the famous Umbrella Defense backfield. This was the first time a pure defensive unit ever obtained a special name and notoriety.

Veteran coach Steve Owen used a six man line -- left end Jim Duncan, left tackle Weinmeister, left guard Jon Baker, right guard Mastrangelo (from the Yanks), right tackle Al DeRogatis, and right end Ray Poole. John Cannady was the single line backer. Tom Landry and Harmon Rowe were the left and right defensive halfbacks; while Tunnell played left safety and Schellenbacher the right.

During the first half against Cleveland, Duncan and Poole dropped back, slid, and floated acting basically as outside linebackers. Graham did not complete a pass. In the second half they charged with Landry and Rowe moving to the linebacker slots. All the Giants needed was a single touchdown by rookie fullback Eddie Price."
