the momentum was huge... 14:10 oda, nem jött be a negyedik és goal, gyors TD, szünet, rossz onside kick, majd szinte rögtön újabb TD és el is dőlt a meccs, kemény

PO különkiadásCounting down the top 12 NFL prospect matchups in the College Football Playoff semifinals:
(Note: An asterisk identifies an underclassman.)
12. Michigan WR Ronnie Bell vs. TCU CB Tre’Vius Hodges-Tomlinson
The Wolverines’ leading receiver with 56 catches, Ronnie Bell (5-11, 190) is a loose athlete and an instinctive zone-route runner — meaning he knows how to exploit the holes in a defense. He is a natural pass-catcher with large, accepting hands, but is thinly built with below-average play strength and a disappointing success rate in contested situations.
That is music to the ears of Tre’Vius Hodges-Tomlinson (5-8, 177), who is vastly undersized but plays with the physicality of a much bigger player. While there is no escaping his lack of length, he competes to crowd everything thrown his way and makes targets much more difficult for receivers.
Due to their limitations, neither Bell nor Hodges-Tomlinson are considered top-100 prospects, but both have a chance to be drafted on Day 3.
11. TCU LG Steve Avila/C Alan Ali vs. Michigan NT Mazi Smith*
Two of the most experienced linemen in the playoffs, Steve Avila (6-4, 339) and Alan Ali (6-4, 308) have combined for 6,133 total offensive snaps at the college level. Avila, the Horned Frogs’ starting center in 2020 and 2021, moved to left guard this season to make room for Ali, who transferred over from SMU. Considered a possible Day 2 pick by several scouts, Avila is a big-bodied blocker with heavy hands and knock-back power. His countering footwork can be an issue, but he dominates in a phone booth.
In the news this month for the wrong reasons, Mazi Smith is expected to play despite an impending Dec. 29 sentencing for a misdemeanor charge of attempted possession of a loaded firearm inside a motor vehicle. Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh has defended his decision not to suspend Smith.
On the field, Smith is No. 45 overall in my 2023 NFL Draft rankings. Powerful at contact, he is a hard guy to move and can stack double teams while also winning one-on-one matchups with his freaky athletic traits.
10. Georgia RB Kenny McIntosh vs. Ohio State LB Tommy Eichenberg*
A committee-based run attack is the foundation of Georgia’s offensive game plan, and it’s led this year by Kenny McIntosh (6-0, 207), who is the Bulldogs’ top rusher with 709 yards and 10 touchdowns. My top-ranked senior running back prospect heading into the season, McIntosh is a productive point-of-entry back with a balanced mix of quickness and strength. He’s also one of the best receiving backs in this year’s draft.
Ohio State’s run defense has been up-and-down this season, but Tommy Eichenberg (6-2, 235) is among the best run defenders in the country. A strong wrap-up tackler, he is extremely disciplined with his eyes and fits and won’t take himself out of plays. He tends to be overly conservative in coverage, but his downhill angles and burst through contact as a tackler are why scouts believe he will be drafted in the top three rounds, if he elects to enter the 2023 NFL Draft.
9. Georgia C Sedrick Van Pran* vs. Ohio State DT Taron Vincent
The 2023 center class is underwhelming — no seniors are considered locks to be drafted in the top 100. However, Sedrick Van Pran (6-4, 310) is one of a few underclassmen who could give the class a boost by making the NFL jump. He moves well and wins with his strength, especially in his lower body, although he will get himself in trouble when he overextends with his upper half. Aside from a disappointing performance against Missouri, Van Pran graded extremely well on every other tape I studied this season.
Ohio State hasn’t had a truly dominant force in the middle of its defensive line in awhile, but each year the Buckeyes put together a quality rotation of solid defensive tackles. That is the case again this season. Taron Vincent (6-1, 289), the son of former NFL cornerback (and current NFL executive vice president of football operations) Troy Vincent, is undersized and can be moved when he his pad level rises. His short-area quickness and body flexibility, though, are why scouts consider him a potential late-round draft choice.
Van Pran also will have to deal with Michael Hall (6-2, 290). Hall is not draft-eligible, but I wanted to include him, because he is probably the most talented defensive tackle on the Buckeyes’ depth chart and is reportedly back to full health, which should make him a great challenge for Van Pran.
8. TCU QB Max Duggan/RB Kendre Miller* vs. Michigan defense
The TCU backfield is averaging 200 rushing yards per game, primarily due to Max Duggan (6-1, 211) and Kendre Miller (6-0, 220). That duo has combined for 1,746 rushing yards and 23 rushing touchdowns in 13 games this season. The Michigan defense, though, ranks top five in the country in yards (277.1) and points allowed (13.4) per game.
Both Duggan and Miller are interesting NFL prospects. Duggan’s accuracy and decision-making as a passer tend to be volatile, but with his arm strength, athleticism and competitive toughness, a team will want to draft and develop him in the middle rounds. Miller’s skill set is much more NFL-ready. Although his vision will run hot and cold, he has nimble footwork for his size, with the same acceleration through the hole and into contact.
7. Georgia LT Broderick Jones* vs. Ohio State DE Zach Harrison
Two of the three offensive tackles who appeared in the first round of my Mock Draft 1.0 will play in the Fiesta Bowl: Ohio State LT Paris Johnson Jr. (6-7, 308) and Broderick Jones (6-4, 315). Johnson is a probable top-15 pick, but Jones’ draft stock is a little more unpredictable. He’s talented but still young and remains a work in progress. An athletic big man with first-round talent, Jones is quick off the snap and flashes power in his hands.
When he has struggled this season, it has come against long rushers who attacked his chest and jarred him off-balance (see: Missouri and LSU tapes). Zach Harrison isn’t a twitchy arc bender, but I don’t think Jones has faced a pass rusher with his combination of length (35 5/8-inch arms) and build-up power. How the Georgia left tackle fares against Harrison will give scouts a better idea of how ready he is for NFL-level length and power. For Ohio State to pull off the upset, it will need to create backfield havoc.
6. Michigan RB Donovan Edwards* vs. TCU LB Dee Winters/Edge Dylan Horton
There are very few college offenses that could lose a Heisman-worthy running back and not suffer a downgrade with its backup. But Michigan pulled it off this season as Donovan Edwards (6-1, 204) stepped up when Blake Corum went down with a knee injury. As a true sophomore, Edwards isn’t yet draft-eligible, but he combined for 401 rushing yards over the Wolverines’ last two games (Ohio State, Purdue) and absolutely will be a player to keep on the radar for 2024.
If TCU is going to contain the Michigan run game, it will need its best downhill players to have A-plus games. Dylan Horton (6-4, 275) might be the most underrated prospect in this entire article. The potential top-100 prospect was dominant in the Big 12 Championship Game and has the physical hands and balanced pursuit to be a consistent finisher. Dee Winters (5-11, 228) isn’t quite as highly thought of by scouts, mostly due to his lack of size, but he has outstanding range and chase speed with immediate stopping power as a tackler. He will be a Day 3 target.
5. Ohio State interior OL vs. Georgia DT Jalen Carter*
Jalen Carter (6-3, 310) is the best player in this year’s College Football Playoff, plain and simple. A legitimate candidate for the No. 1 overall pick in April, the junior from Apopka, Fla., is a game-wrecker with impressive body control and natural power. Carter has the explosiveness to shoot gaps or loop around blocks, while also using his saw-blade hands and natural force to overpower whatever stands in his way. The main takeaway from Carter’s tape? His block destruction is special.
The strength of Ohio State’s offensive line is on the edges, at left and right tackle. However, all three interior linemen will have a shot in the NFL because of their talent, even if they can be inconsistent at times. Fifth-year senior RG Matthew Jones has some draftable grades and is considered a priority free agent by others. Redshirt sophomore C Luke Wypler has NFL starting potential and will have a decision to make after the season — like Van Pran, he could give this year’s center class a nice boost. LG Donovan Jackson has the highest ceiling of the group, but he is only a true sophomore and is not yet draft-eligible.
4. TCU WR Quentin Johnston* vs. Michigan CB DJ Turner*
This should be a fun matchup. Quentin Johnston, arguably the best draft-eligible receiver in the 2023 class, can be a mismatch downfield due to his speed to stack, track and separate on verticals. He also can hit the turbo button at the top of his route to win on posts/corners. However, DJ Turner is the fastest player on the Wolverines’ roster (23.07 mph on GPS and a 4.2 40-yard dash, according to Bruce Feldman’s “Freaks List”) and does a great job shifting his gears to stay on top of routes.
Turner looks to make receivers uncomfortable mid-route but will get himself in trouble when he gets “too” physical downfield or loses his balance firing downhill to make a tackle. Johnston, who also made the “Freaks List,” has a knack for making the first man miss after the catch, due to his elusiveness and body strength. Turner doesn’t receive nearly enough love nationally as one of the better cornerbacks in the country, but he should be a Day 2 draft pick if he declares early. A standout performance against Johnston could confirm that projection.
3. Georgia TE Brock Bowers and TE Darnell Washington* vs. Ohio State S Ronnie Hickman and S Lathan Ransom*
The winner of this matchup might determine the outcome of the game. In a lot of ways, the tight ends are what ignites the Georgia offense.
True sophomore Brock Bowers isn’t eligible for the 2023 draft — he has the talent to be a top-10 pick in 2024 NFL. He leads the Bulldogs in catches (52), receiving yards (726) and receiving touchdowns (6). Darnell Washington, who’s fourth in receiving yards (417), hasn’t been a high-volume target but has true mismatch potential with his large, stout frame and offers better after-the-catch skills than expected.
Both Bowers and Washington are also integral parts of the run game as blockers — more so Washington, who almost looks like a sixth offensive lineman. He is a very unique NFL prospect, because there simply aren’t many lean and athletic 280-pounders with the blocking chops and pass-catching upside that Washington has. Depending on the identity of their offenses, NFL teams will value Washington differently. He could sneak into the first round (like in my Mock Draft 1.0) or be a Day 2 pick.
Despite its inconsistent play, the Buckeyes’ safety depth chart is full of future NFL Draft picks. Ronnie Hickman, who has already declared for the 2023 draft, splits his snaps between the box, slot and in the post. He has been the Buckeyes’ best coverage defender, having surrendered only 12 catches (and zero touchdowns) this season, including just one reception of more than 15 yards. Although I’d like to see him take more chances in coverage, Hickman can pedal, redirect and drive, and he takes accurate angles as a run defender.
Lathan Ransom has more highs on tape than Hickman … but also more lows. His last two games showed that. He played really well against Maryland but was inconsistent against Michigan. Ransom has a strong recognition of route combinations from different alignments and does a great job using his closing burst to undercut routes, but his run fits are shaky, and his eyes will deceive him in coverage. If he’s on his A-game and helps limit Georgia’s tight ends, it won’t go unnoticed by NFL teams.
2. Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr.* vs. Georgia CB Kelee Ringo*
Many were surprised and let me know they disagreed with my tweet back in early September that said Marvin Harrison Jr., “would be WR1 in this draft class if eligible.” However, I think most of the skeptics have come around on Harrison, not only as the country’s top wide receiver prospect but as someone who has a chance to be special in the NFL. Harrison is finishing up his sophomore year, so he won’t be eligible until the 2024 NFL Draft, but he’ll be outstanding competition for Kelee Ringo.
One of the more polarizing prospects in this draft class, Ringo (6-2, 210) is a rare size/speed athlete with the natural talent to be an impact corner at the next level. However, he is still raw in several areas of the position, which has fueled “boom-or-bust” talk. While a freaky talent, Ringo’s technique and awareness are very raw, and he has issues anticipating various route combinations. He protects against deep shots, which might make it tough for Harrison to win over the top, but Harrison should feast on comebacks and curls given the way Ringo struggles to react to route breaks in front of him.
It won’t be a surprise when Ringo blows up the Scouting Combine. For him to secure a spot in the first round, though, it will be important for the tape to match. Limiting a future NFL No. 1 like Harrison would help.
1. Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud* vs. FS Christopher Smith and the Georgia defense
C.J. Stroud is the NFL prospect with the most to gain in the College Football Playoff. In what basically will be a road game for Ohio State, Stroud will face the most talented defense he’s seen in his life. If he can put the offense on his shoulders and consistently move the football, with drives culminating in touchdowns, it will send a fairly convincing message to NFL teams.
A fantastic rhythm passer, Stroud knows where to go with the football, which is why he projects as an NFL starter. He is very structurally sound with his setup, reads and execution. He anticipates well based on his pre-snap looks and throws with impressive ball placement downfield to allow his talented receivers to make plays. However, Ohio State will likely need Stroud to be more of a creator to beat Georgia, and that is not something he has consistently shown on film. He isn’t a natural improvisor and doesn’t look comfortable scrambling or buying extra time.
Will that change in this game? Against pressure this season, Stroud has only five touchdown passes compared to seven turnover-worthy throws. Only 10.8 percent of his total passing yards have come while under pressure (compared to 27.1 percent for Bryce Young and 26.1 percent for Heisman winner Caleb Williams).
Although he isn’t the lock top-three draft pick Twitter seems to think, Stroud can change the narrative — this Georgia film will carry much more weight than anything else on Stroud’s tape.
The Georgia defense lost eight draft picks off last year’s national title-winning team, including five first-rounders. However, while most of the names are different in 2022, the results have been similar. This year’s Georgia defense ranks No. 2 in scoring defense (12.8 points per game). Christopher Smith is one of the few returning starters. He leads the Bulldogs in interceptions and has been a reliable coverage defender. Although undersized, NFL scouts see him as a potential top-100 draft pick.

Music City Bowl 18:00Iowa vs. Kentucky
This will be the final time to watch Iowa fourth-year LB Jack Campbell (6-4, 248), one of the most decorated Hawkeyes of all time, before he heads to the NFL. The program has produced numerous productive linebackers (Chad Greenway, Josey Jewell, etc.), but Campbell is the first to win the Butkus Award as the nation’s top linebacker and the first to take home the William V. Campbell trophy (the “Academic Heisman”). Although he’s not considered a top-50 prospect due to his average athleticism, the Big Ten’s Defensive Player of the Year has the instincts that will keep him in the NFL for a long time.
Imádlak, Iowa D. Campbell mellett Van Ness, Moss, Jacobs, Shannon, a jövőre eligible DeJean mind NFL játékos lesz és biztosan kihagytam még valakit.
Kentucky will be without its top two offensive players (QB Will Levis, RB Chris Rodriguez Jr.). On the defensive side, fifth-year CB Keidron Smith (6-2, 198), who transferred from Ole Miss, has played really well in his one season with the Wildcats. He is tied for the team lead in interceptions (2) and has done a great job minimizing big plays (no receptions allowed of 25-plus yards). Smith has the size, speed and technical approach that should translate well to the NFL game.
Sugar Bowl 18:00
Alabama vs. Kansas State
Facing the unenviable task of replacing Evan Neal, Alabama fourth-year LT Tyler Steen (6-5, 319) has been a little up-and-down this season, but there have been more positives than negatives. The Vanderbilt grad transfer wasn’t considered a draftable player over the summer, but his consistency this season has improved from previous years (he had several strong reps vs. LSU draft prospect BJ Ojulari). Although he tends to forget about his feet mid-engagement at times, Steen does a great job with his depth in pass protection to close space for rushers.
Igen sok, 9 Alabama játékos lesz ott a Senior Bowlon, illene játszaniuk, ha a védelem és a támadósor vezére is bevállalta a szereplést.
Steen will have his hands full going up against Kansas State third-year DE Felix Anudike-Uzomah (6-4, 255), who leads the Wildcats in tackles for loss (11.0), sacks (8.5) and forced fumbles (2). A face-up rusher, Anudike-Uzomah has adequate get-off and arc speed, and he mixes in various stab and ghost moves to pry open pass-rush lanes. While he tends to be an inconsistent edge setter, Anudike-Uzomah is very alert to scrambling quarterbacks and does a great job keeping his pursuit alive, which was the No. 1 takeaway from his tape.
Deuce Vaughn RB és Cooper Beebe OG, két surefire draft pick is vállalja a meccset.
