Jó hír, hogy Darnold egykori középsulis csapattársa és váltó társa, Jack Sears 4* QB commitolt a csapathoz. Ő eredetileg Duke commit volt, de várható volt, hogy váltani fog. Sears a legjobbnak vélt DT irányító prospect, az elite 11 edzői ódákat zengtek róla. Nagyon jó gyerek, nagy foci IQ-val. Elképesztően gyors irányítóhoz képest és a zsebben is jól mozog. Az eddigi 10 meccsén 30TD-t passzolt és csak 2szer dobott INT-t.
Az irányító kérdés tehát nagyon jól áll, tekintve, hogy a 2018-as class egyik legjobb irányítója, aki még a #1ovr prospect is lehet, Matt Corral, már régóta USC commit. Ő is nagyon hatékonyan fut, szóval a coaching staff kezd elmenni a DT irányítók felé.

Szombaton jön az igazi értékmérő a Darnold vezette csapatnak, at #5 Washington.
Ha sikerül nyerni, akkor versenyben maradunk a Pac12 South trónjáért, bár segítségre még így is szükség lesz.
Szerencsére a kacsa vadászatot sikerült megúszni komolyabb sérülés nélkül.
RoJo 4 futott TD-je egy meccsen pedig a legtöbb 2005 és LenDale White óta.
Hétvégén egyébként az Alabamáról transzferelő Kendall Sheffield, egykori 5* CB volt viziten, állítólag elég jók az esélyek arra, hogy jövőre USC player legyen, ami mondjuk Adoree' vélhető távozásával nem lenne rossz.

sikerült kibekkelnem a mai napig, hogy ne tudjam meg az eredményt, így azért izgatottan néztem meg a Utah elleni meccset, ami újfent csak megmutatta, hogy Pat Haden mennyire utálta ezt a sulit.
Heltonra nem tudok mást mondani, mint, hogy egy töketlen HC. A Stanford ellen is nyomott egy egészen nevetséges punt hívást, most is a Utah 37-ről puntolt 4&3-re, ami után jött a 90 akárhány yardos TD drive. Egészen szánalmas. És most is elmondta, hogy a srácok mennyire küzdöttek és társai...Hát a ***** anyádat!
Tee Martinra nem tudok mit mondani, csak azt, hogy nevetséges, hogy egy 12,6 yard/carry mutatót hozó futót nem játszat a 4. negyedben, mondván rotálták a futókat.
A támadófal edzőre sem tudok mit mondani, mondjon le az összes. A div1-ben a 6. legtöbb snap számot játszotta a védelem, mert nincs 1 elit játékos sem, aki mondjuk tudna irányítót siettetni, futást ölni.
Az LSU meg tuti lecsap Hermanra, holott annak a buzi Hadennek, már tavaly ki kellett volna neveznie!
Swann remélem rendelkezik golyókkal és elébemegy a dolgoknak.
Hétvégén ASU, merem remélni, hogy sikerül kikapni vmi hasonló módon, mint tavaly.

Osa Masina és Don Hill is eltiltva erre az évre. Szekszuális zaklatásba keveredtek, Masina 2 államban is (ugyanazzal a nővel...) Ez nem az SEC.
A kezdő center Toa Lobendahn ACL és MCL szakadást szenvedett a Bama ellen, vége az idei szezonjának. Neki tavaly a Utah ellen az ACL-je már elszakadt egyszer, nagyon sajnálatos dolog ez.
Cam Smith bekerült a PFF 2. heti legjobb csapatába, ehhez 13 szerelésre és 5 labdaelütésre volt szüksége. Utóbbi a legtöbb volt a múlt héten.

Ridley is 9 yardot kapott el, nem hinném, hogy szomorú lett volna a héten. Azt írták az edzésről, hogy nagyon fizikális volt (blablabla), de egy 11on11 esetnél JuJu kicsit kiborult. Utána kivonta magát az edzésből, Adoree' nyugtatta (itt azért kérdezném, hogy hol az edzői jelenlét?), de egy 15 perc után csatlakozott. Helton 5 éves szerződést kapott (sajnos), őszintén nem hiszem, hogy 1 év után kirúgnák, legyen kvázi bármi a szezon végkimenetele, mert lehet magyarázni, hogy milyen erős volt a menetrend, BLABLABLA.
Érdemi változástól nem kell itt félni, Helton eddig 0-3 kinevezése óta (Stanford, Wisconsin, Alabama). Nem csodálkoznék, ha hétvégén a Utah State-be is beletörne a bicska.

No. 20 #USC loses valuable backup & former 5* LB Osa Masina for #Alabama opener for violation of team rules. Masina, a former five-star recruit, was slated behind starter Michael Hutchings in the Trojans depth chart. Quinton Powell now becomes the direct backup to Hutchings.

Masina is the second Trojan to miss the Alabama game, along with corner Isaiah Langley, who was suspended as a result of an arrest at a UCLA party.

Clay Helton says Chuma Edoga will start at LT. Chad Wheeler, the usual starter, may be available for a few series only with a foot injury. Let's try this again - Says a lot about Helton's faith in Edoga. If drop-off was really big, he'd flop Banner to LT.

Max lett hivatalosan is a kezdő QB. Nagyobb meglepetés nincs igazán. A védelem egészen fiatal, egyedül Stevie, Hutchings és a SS kezdő duó végzős, a többik közül még Adoree' junior és kész. Lynn Swann: Stepping up to LEAD

It's all about USC, and its new director of athletics, becoming the strong leader USC needs him to be. Not that the Pac-12, and the NCAA, both don't need the same thing from the top man at USC sports. Here are some ideas how that might happen.

I think we always knew, and on occasion I would find myself telling someone if they asked: “The AD’s job is probably Lynn Swann’s -- if he wants it.”

And now we know. Lynn wanted it.

It’s something of a curse around here. USC has so many great ex-jocks, so many Heisman Trophy winners and Hall of Famers with golden resumes and law degrees, national broadcasting gigs, business success, friends in high places and much more to them than just football that it makes it really hard to go outside the Trojan family -- and very easy to stay within.

As Max Nikias did Wednesday when he named the Trojan All-American, national champ, multiple Hall of Famer, multiple Super Bowl winner, civic leader, fundraiser, TV broadcaster, corporate board fixture, charity leader and Annenberg School grad as the next director of athletics effective July 1 succeeding Pat Haden after five and a half tumultuous years.

No law degree, however, and that’s a good thing. We like it that he’s a politician, although he ran for governor in Pennsylvania in the wrong year and for the wrong party at the time. Nothing wrong there. There aren’t enough Republicans in academia these days. So good for Max.

We even love it that he’s a big ballet guy. Take that, the rest of college athletics. Bet your AD doesn’t, or didn’t, do ballet.

In a quote released by USC, Swann said: "As athletic director, my goals for the student-athletes will be to graduate, to win and to experience."

No question about the first goal. Everybody says it. USC must do it. But we’d combine the other two into one, something that should be the No. 1 goal for every athletics director: to experience winning.

Now everybody can’t, by definition.

But USC can. Just saw an ESPN stat that noted over the last five years, despite all the goofy head coaching selections and unjust NCAA sanctions, USC averaged six wins a season in Pac-12 football, behind only Stanford and Oregon and ahead of UCLA, Arizona State and all the rest of the conference. Despite it all.

Now what? Do we listen to the words of the gloom-and-doomers about another in-family hire of an inexperienced – as an AD -- Trojan “who gets it” and brings no ability to do what an AD at USC must do and say “Here we go again. Woe is us.”

Why do that? No fun there. And if anything, college sports has to be fun, as much of a multi-million, maybe multi-billion-dollar, big business deal it is today.

But winning is the fun. “Athletics has long been the glue that binds our worldwide Trojan family,” Max rightly wrote in his letter to the USC community. Not just “athletics” but doing “athletics” right. In other words: winning.

That’s the deal at USC. Anything less and you’re not doing it right. Maybe at Duke or Vanderbilt, even Notre Dame and Stanford, you can do it right here or there or even mostly so. Not USC. USC has too much going for it. More so now than ever before. Just look around the campus.

At USC, you have to compete with Alabama and Clemson and Florida State – and the academic elites. It’s a heck of a challenge. Maybe one no one but a Michigan is expected to do.
“Trojan athletics will play an even greater role in redefining and improving the student-athlete experience,” Max wrote and then added that Lynn is expected to bring “charismatic, dynamic leadership to this exceptionally consequential role.”

The key word there is “leadership.” USC must become a leader again in college sports. No more worrying about the unprecedented $6 billion fundraising campaign now that USC has crossed the $5 billion threshold.

But what to do? How to do it?

Here’s Max’s take and he’s on the money referencing USC’s great “champions,” both celebrated Olympians and intercollegiate champs, with the promise that “with renewed vigor, we will seek to bring our experience, expertise and sheer love for intercollegiate athletics to important national conversations and reforms, particularly through our leadership in the Pac-12 and NCAA, Collegiate Football Playoff Association and the Olympic movement.”

As the chair of the Board of Managers of the College Football Playoff Association, Max is speaking from first-hand experience now. But here’s a call for USC, as it brings in of someone who’s been essentially somewhat outside the immediate Trojan family in Southern California, to use that to his benefit.

Do not limit your world to the USC experience, although some of that Annenberg public relations expertise could have helped in recent years. Get outside Heritage and Bovard Halls. Go back to being the pol who listened to all kinds of people. Believe it or not, there are answers outside USC. Find them.

Here’s a suggestion from a smart, interested Trojan alum that came our way and we endorse it wholeheartedly. In the more than two months that Lynn has before starting his job, he should visit with the AD’s at the nation’s top programs – Stanford, Notre Dame, Florida, Alabama, Michigan State – and pick their brains. Have a frame of reference before sitting down with the USC staff in July.

Then listen to your USC people. Find out who they are and what they do. Get to know them so that downward connection allows you to allow them to be the best that they can be. Pretty sure that never really happened much in recent years of a top-down management style.

And then get about the business of making USC’s athletic program all the things that Max Nikias has said it’s been and will be. Here’s another place having Lynn Swann over an established AD with established and successful coaching ties might just be for the best. No need to be looking over Clay Helton’s shoulder with another guy from another school in mind if . . .

But USC can indeed be the lead for NCAA reform, having been the victim of so much that’s wrong with the NCAA and having taken it, to the detriment of the entire USC family, especially its student-athletes, with barely a peep. Now it’s time to talk. USC has very little to gain now – although its good name and a place at the head of the line of those calling for real NCAA reform – wouldn’t be a bad place to start.

And as much as it scares the other 11, USC must assume its role at the head of the Pac-12 pack and start asking all the questions that should have been asked for years now about how Commissioner Larry Scott seems to have very few answers for the Conference of Champions.

Should the Conference of Champions be heading down a high-spending path to a dead-end when it comes to the league’s networks that keep falling farther and farther behind its big-money competitors in the SEC and Big Ten? No need to do this right away but we’d hope it’s on a to-do list in the not-too-distant future.

In this edition of the Ten of Troy, USCFootball.com's staff looks at the top 10 performers during the first week of spring practices. Please note that the rankings do not directly reflect the opinions of the Trojans football coaching staff.

1. Juju Smith-Schuster | Junior | Wide Receiver | Long Beach (Calif.)
Smith-Schuster entered spring football as USC's No. 1 pro prospect and he has not disappointed despite the lessened importance of practice. Smith-Schuster doesn't know the difference between preparing for Notre Dame and the first week of spring ball. His energy, competitiveness and passion for the game is contagious. No one has more fun on the field than Smith-Schuster, yet no one works harder. He is clearly the quarterback's No. 1 target in team scrimmaging, but Smith-Schuster is also purposely dialing it back in seven-on-seven drills to make sure the young receivers get reps. The only other player that has flashed the same kind of dominance Smith-Schuster plays with every rep is Porter Gustin.

2. Leon McQuay III | Senior | Safety | Tampa (Fla.)
We temper our enthusiasm as spring football All-Americans sometimes disappear during the fall. Names like Herschel Dennis, Ryan Ting and Travon Patterson come to mind. However, Leon McQuay III's start to spring has been exciting and welcome. The former Armwood High School five-star safety had two interceptions in the first full pad practice and appears a step faster this spring. Reunited with Clancy Pendergast as defensive coordinator, this could be a bit of a rebirth for McQuay III. He has all of the physical skills to be an impact player at USC, but his field vision and feel for the game have to continue to improve.

3. Porter Gustin | Sophomore | Linebacker | Salem Hills (Utah)
Porter Gustin played well as a true freshman last season, but with that experience, he is looking even more confident and hungry this spring. In the first day of full pads, Gustin bullied USC's offensive tackles in team drills. On one specific play in team scrimmaging, he ran through the offensive line for a sack. While the quarterback was safe with a no contact jersey on, quarterback coach Tyson Helton felt the wrath of Gustin, who knocked Helton to the ground on the play. Gustin still has to work on varying his pass rushing techniques, but as scary as it will sound for USC opponents, he is also bigger, stronger and faster than a year ago.

4. Max Browne | R-Junior | Quarterback | Sammamish (Wash.)
Make no mistake about it, this is Max Browne's team. While the quarterback competition has been far from settled, Browne leads every drill, takes command of the huddle and has been very consistent with his passes this spring. After a week of football, none of the quarterbacks on the roster have really dazzled. Outside an occasional throw down field, Browne has led the way in checking down his passes and playing it conservatively. Browne has a bigger arm than Cody Kessler, as does Sam Darnold, so we wait in anticipation for the offense to push the ball down field more for a better sense of what each player is really capable of. Three practices in, we just don't have the reps to make that determination. What we do know is that Browne looks the part as a leader and has the offense running fairly smoothly snap to snap just a few practices in.

5. Uchenna Nwosu | Junior | Linebacker | Harbor City (Calif.)
Uchenna Nwosu was one of those project recruits USC signed in Steve Sarkisian's first cycle as head coach. Flying under the radar at Narbonne, Nwosu came to USC at about 210 pounds and raw. Nwosu now runs about 235 pounds despite his freshman listing. He has played inside and outside linebacker over the past two seasons, and because the personnel usage has not changed much with USC's new defensive scheme, Nwosu is a wildcard for the Trojans. He has the size to play inside, but this spring, his speed and agility have shown through in drills making him a potential SAM linebacker for USC come the fall.

6. Darreus Rogers | Senior | Wide Receiver | Carson (Calif.)
At times last season, Darreus Rogers looked to be a great option for Cody Kessler on third downs opposite of Juju Smith-Schuster. Unfortunately for USC, those times became few and far between as the season progressed. Rogers is playing the part this spring as another big, strong possession wideout opposite of Smith-Schuster. His blocking is improving in the run game and Rogers has made some circus catches in one-on-one drills that leave those in attendance wanting more. Rogers knows the offense and doesn't need the mental reps, but it would be nice for him to be the focal point in at least a couple of practices to build his dependability with the quarterbacks. On short and intermediate routes, Rogers offers many of the same attributes that make Juju Smith-Schuster a difficult player to defend.

7. Rasheem Green | Sophomore | Defensive End | Gardena (Calif.)
Rasheem Green started the 2015 season out slowly as he returned from ACL surgery his senior year in high school, but the true sophomore is coming into his own this spring. With four defensive lineman with starting experience existing from USC, Green is stepping up and proving to be the best pass rusher on the interior defensive line. It's a young group full of underclassmen, so unfortunately, Green is learning on the job while leading the class. That shows up in team run (nine-on-nine) more than any other practice period.

8. Isaiah Langley | Sophomore | Cornerback | Pleasanton (Calif.)
Of the players who appear to be making the biggest leaps from fall to spring, Isaiah Langley is at the top of the list after the first week of practice. Langley has still had his off reps getting beat, but overall, he has improved an incredible amount since last August. Fundamentally, Langley is more sound and he plays with much more confidence. Langley is the type of player that really steps up when it counts and has a couple of interceptions this spring to show for it. The fact that he played as a true freshman after a pretty rough fall camp in itself is impressive. With no Adoree' Jackson in the lineup this spring, Langley is capitalizing on his increased reps.

9. Zach Banner | R-Senior | Offensive Tackle | Lakewood (Wash.)
This is a contract year for Zach Banner and he knows it. Banner is all business this spring and he is working hard to correct any deficiencies in his pass protection. It's apparent that new offensive line coach Neil Callaway wants to protect his group by keeping things simple by attacking. With Banner back at right tackle, he is an anchor in the run game and Callaway is building around that. Banner is a great leader, and as we saw at the end of last season, the Trojans found a go-to facet of their offense running behind the 6-foot-9, 360-pound offensive tackle.

10. Chris Brown | R-Sophomore | Guard | Los Angeles (Calif.)
Zach Banner and Uchenna Nwsou both make the list as players who have gained valuable experience playing multiple positions the past two seasons at SC. Chris Brown is in that same category, as he has jumped around all over on the offensive line. Starting the first practice at left guard, Brown has actually gobbled up reps from Damien Mama. Is that for evaluation or is it Brown impressing the coaching staff in the film room? Brown's performance in spring just reiterates the girth of talent USC has on the interior offensive line. The Trojans have both depth and a quality front five using varying combinations of players at center or guard.

special talent a srác, én személy szerint többet vártam tőle idén. A tavaszi edzőtábort kihagyja, mert az atlétikai csapattal készül (az ország egyik legtehetségesebb távolugrója), ugyanis feltett célja, hogy az idei olimpián ott lehessen. Tavaly 4. lett az országos bajnokságon.
Sztem idénre már teljesen csak a védelemben láthatjuk. Nagyon kevés esetet tudok elképzelni, hogy futó vagy elkapó pozícióba álljon fel. Ennek pedig az az oka, hogy kevés CB van a keretben (Ő, Iman Marshall, Jonathan Lockett, Isaiah Langley, és a kettő újonc Jack Jack és Keyshown Young).
Továbbá a futóknál bőven megvagyunk (Justin Davis, Ronald Jones, Ced Ware, Dominic Davis és az újonc Valepeai Maleva.
Illetve az elkapóknál is masszív keretünk van, idén is jött nem csak mennyiség, hanem minőség (az ország legerősebb elkapó classa, 2 db 5* (Pittman, Vaughns) játékossal és egy high 4* (Immatorbhebhe).
Remélem idén rá tud koncentrálni majd év közben a korrekt CB-vé fejlődésre, mert akkor meghatározó játékos lehet. Visszahordásoknál továbbra is ő lesz a #1, ebben biztos vagyok.

Remélem idén rá tud koncentrálni majd év közben a korrekt CB-vé fejlődésre, mert akkor meghatározó játékos lehet. Visszahordásoknál továbbra is ő lesz a #1, ebben biztos vagyok.

Ahogy nézegettem a meccseket jó néhány tehetséges játékos, szép megmozdulásain örömködhettem, de egy játékos igazán lenyűgözött a kr, pr, cb, hb teljesítményével: Adoree' Jackson.

Gondolom nem marad örökké ilyen hibrid játékos, így felteszem a kérdést, hogy #O vagy #D (szerintem inkább itt) oldalon vesszük nagyobb hasznát?

Ez annyit tesz ki, hogy rengeteget foglalkozik a toborzással és a játékosok feltérképezésével. 3 éve távozott az LSU-hoz hasonló posztra, mind a 3 évében top5 class-t hozott össze. Rengeteget köszönhettek neki Les Milesék. Ed Orgeron azt mondta róla, hogy pár éven belül akár már NFL GM is lehet belőle. Óriási nyereség az ő megszerzése.

Pat Haden június 30-val leköszön az AD posztról (ez kb egy 3-4 napos hír). Tegnap rosszul lett az egyetemen, aztán most már korházban is van. Hasonló tüneteket produkált, mint a ND meccsen. Jobbulást neki!!!
1 évig még marad a Coliseummal kapcsolatos projekt miatt, de már nem, mint AD.
Belsős körökben azt mondják, hogy Steve Lopes lehet a befutó (fia walk on safety egyébként).
De mára többen is megírták, hogy a Louisville AD-t akarják és már ajánlaottak is neki szerződést, amit az AD cáfolt.
