CB Alan Ball (unrestricted free agent, Houston): Ball has started eight of the team’s nine games (he missed one with a groin injury) and has been a solid player. He has five pass breakups, second among all secondary players, and 30 tackles. The sixth-year player from Illinois has been a good example for rookie cornerback Dwayne Gratz.

CB Will Blackmon (street free agent): He joined the team Aug. 28 and has started seven games because of Gratz’s ankle injury and worked as a punt returner early in the season while Ace Sanders eased into the role. Blackmon delivered the biggest defensive play of the season on Sunday with his forced fumble and 21-yard recovery for a touchdown.

TE Clay Harbor (claimed off waivers from Philadelphia): He did a solid job filling in as a pass catcher while Marcedes Lewis was out with a calf injury and has 13 catches for 166 yards and one touchdown. He hasn’t seen much action since Lewis’ return but can help make up for some of Justin Blackmon’s production.

LB Geno Hayes (unrestricted free agent, Chicago): Though he has been somewhat inconsistent, Hayes has had his moments. Last Sunday against Tennessee was certainly one of them, when he led the Jaguars with 11 tackles and had one pass breakup in the 29-27 victory. Head coach Gus Bradley said Hayes has played better lately but has to be someone upon which the defense can depend each week.

DT Sen’Derrick Marks (unrestricted free agent, Tennessee): Marks has been the team’s best free-agent signing and the team’s best defensive lineman. He’s on pace for a career year, too. He already has 2.0 sacks and four pass breakups and he entered the season with 3.0 career sacks and eight career pass breakups. He signed a one-year deal and it would be a surprise if he were not resigned.

LB LaRoy Reynolds (undrafted rookie free agent): Though he was just suspended for four games for violating the league’s performance enhancing drugs policy, Reynolds has been a key special teams player all season. He’s tied for the team lead with six special teams tackles and made a huge play against Tennessee when he downed a punt at the 1-yard line, which led to a safety.

Poz lett a hét védője az AFCben! Ez az első ilyen elismerés valakinek a Jaguarsból 2011 óta, amikor Scobee lett a hét ST játékosa.

Poz ma meg holnap természetesen nem edz, de Bradley szerint továbbra is van esély a játékára vasárnap. Újra megerősítette, hogy ha nem játszik, Russell Allen húzódik be középre, és Lotulelei kezd Allen helyén.

Rackley zöld lámpát kapott a dokokitól, úgyhogy a héten már elvileg játszhat, ma azért csak csak nagyon lightos edzésmunkát végzett.

Meester, Babin és MJD veterán pihenőnapot kapott. MJDnek kisebb problémája van a térdével mostanában.

Todman és Denard 50-50%ban kapnak snappeket edzéseken mint 2. számú RB, valószinű ez lesz az arány a meccsen is.

Rossz hír: Poznak agyrázkódása van. Ja és Burtonnek is. Utóbbinak ugye ez már 2. Rackleyvel kiegészülve a trió most az agyrázkódás programban van.

Poz Branchcsel ütközött amikor az agyrázkódását szerezte. Andre tényleg csak kolonc... Lotulelei Allen helyett volt fent pár egy driveban. Már csak Cyprien az, aki minden snapet fent volt a Dben a 9 meccs alatt. A tegnap remekül játszó Hayes 2t hagyott ki idén. Wil Blackmon lett az 1. számú nickel CB, de ott is rotálódnak Mike Harrissel, igaz pár olyan felállás, hogy 6 DB játszott egyszerre tegnap. Evans és Guy kb 2/3 - 1/3 arányban osztoztak a snappek számában..

The Jags aren’t quite relevant, but they had a good day

“You know me,” coach Gus Bradley was saying over the phone from Nashville, where his formerly 0-8 Jags hung on to beat Tennessee 29-27. “We don’t talk about wins. We talk about steady improvement every week.”

Bradley gave every player a game ball, and he said it was because of the improvement of so many players in so many little things. “We came back from the bye this week,” he said, “and the attitude at practice was unbelievable. It wasn’t like an attitude you’d see around the NFL very much. I had a couple of people in to watch practice this week and they told me, ‘Gus, it’s like a high school.’ You’d never know we were 0-8.”

I told him the play in the game that most impressed me was cornerback Will Blackmon breaking through to steal the ball from Tennessee quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and run it back for a touchdown. It was a strange play, Blackmon charging in from the secondary and ripping the ball from a shocked Fitzpatrick, scoring what turned out to be the winning touchdown.

“I mean, how great is that?” said Bradley. “Will Blackmon was playing nickel for us for the first time today, and he makes such a huge play to help us win. It was a designed blitz from the nickel spot, and he executed it perfectly. That’s what I mean—we’re starting to do things right, to make the corrections we need to make to play winning football.”

This is what you always heard about Bradley. He’s a teacher. He didn’t let the team get depressed after so many dispiriting losses. There’s still a huge talent gap between Jacksonville and the rest of the league, but if they’re going to work this hard at 0-8, imagine how they’ll be when they’re playing a game that counts for something significant?

Defensive Players of the Week
Will Blackmon, cornerback, Jacksonville. In the grand scheme of things, a Jacksonville victory is scintillating and fun but has little impact on the football world. However, the play by Blackmon to seal this victory is one of the best individual plays in the league this year and deserves major props, particularly since it clinched the first win by the last winless team in the AFC. With 2:32 left and the Jags nursing a 22-20 lead, Jacksonville sent Blackmon on a corner blitz, and he strip-sacked quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, recovered the ball at the Titans’ 21 and ran it in for what turned out to be the winning score.

Coach of the Week
Gus Bradley, head coach, Jacksonville. See above. The Jags lost to fall to 0-8 two weeks ago in London, and they lost decisively. Coming off the bye, Bradley focused on what he’s hounded the team about all season—personal improvement, not winning or losing. “This team loves playing for Gus,” said Maurice Jones-Drew, the veteran running back. It showed in Nashville, in the first win of Bradley’s NFL coaching career.

6. I think there’s not an NFL coach who knows Gus Bradley who isn’t very happy for the relentlessly optimistic teacher of football this morning.

• Despite the 0-8 start to the season, there was no panic in the Jaguars building. Not from coach Gus Bradley. Not from general manager Dave Caldwell. Not from the owner Shad Khan. There is a plan in place to build something for the longterm. But they needed to win a game. There are so many young players on the roster that they had to feel what it's like to win an NFL game. That's what beating Tennessee means to the Jaguars. In terms of getting the first overall pick, they probably will still get that. But, for now, winning is important even if it might be losing down the road.

Let's hear it for the Jags
I wasn't sure the Jaguars were going to win a game this season. Actually, I was pretty much starting to doubt it.

So kudos to them for knocking off the Titans on Sunday. Tennessee had every reason to want, if not need, this win, trying to stay in the playoff picture and not let their fast start slip away. They had starting quarterback Jake Locker back -- well, before he suffered a season-ending injury in the second quarter -- and were coming off one of their best offensive performances.

Yet the Jags outplayed them in every facet and simply seemed more motivated to get this victory. Coach Gus Bradley had them fired up despite their lost season. In comparison to what the first half of the season was like for Jacksonville, this was a complete turnaround. Jacksonville had never built a lead of more than one score all season long, so this was new terrain, going up 10-0.

Previously, the Jags' only leads this season had been 3-0 against the Colts in Week 4 and 7-0 and 10-7 against the Rams in Week 5. That's it. You could fit it in a tweet and still have like 24 characters to spare. Trust me, I did. The Jags had also not held a lead of any sort beyond three minutes into the second quarter of any game this season.

For the Jags to clinch Sunday's win with a late defensive touchdown, after nearly blowing that lead they had held all day, after giving the Titans the ball back up by only two with about four minutes to play, was pretty special for them. With all of their lopsided losses, it was cool to see them react to this first victory, especially within the division and against a very physical opponent. I'm not sure there will be too much celebrating for the group this season, but as GM Dave Caldwell and Bradley try to shape this flagging organization, the victories will certainly be savored.
