Frank Gore will end his holdout and report to training camp Monday.
That makes two Drew Rosenhaus clients reportedly ending their brief holdouts this week. Under terms of the new CBA, players can be fined $30,000 per day for holding out. It gives teams even more leverage over players in contract squabbles, though coach Jim Harbaugh says the 49ers will "earnestly" look at extending Gore's contract.

Applewhite played way more snaps than the Chargers hoped last season, though he did flash some pass-rush ability with three sacks and two forced fumbles. A May 6 DUI arrest was Applewhite's undoing in San Diego. With the 49ers, Applewhite knows DC Greg Manusky's system and can also contribute on special teams.

49ers released C Eric Heitmann.
Heitmann failed his physical. It's no surprise considering he was deemed unlikely to play football in 2011 due to neck surgery. Heitmann's career is in doubt and with David Baas now in New York, the Niners are desperate at center.

The 49ers are in the mix for Antonio Cromartie, according to the NFL Network.
Matt Maiocco of Comcast SportsNet Bay Area has reported the same. The Niners have pulled out of the Nnamdi Asomugha chase, but still have a hole at cornerback. They've been linked to Cromartie, Chris Carr, and could also bring back Nate Clements at a cheaper rate.
