Dear Family,
It's impossible to put into words what the last 19 years with our team has meant to me and done for me professionally, and without a doubt, personally. I have had the privilege and honor to bring life to and raise Jaxson for almost two decades. This has been an incredibly fun, challenging and extremely rewarding journey. I've been asked often over the years, "When do you think you'll retire?" My answer was usually either tomorrow or some other time. Well, the time has come. I met with Mark Lamping a few weeks back and shared that I have decided to move on to my next career. But no worries, I'm not leaving Duval. I'll be coming soon to a TV, radio or internet thing near you.
I feel lucky to be walking away, literally, because I'm pretty sure I've gone through more than the standard 9 lives cats have. I take with me so many great memories from performing at over 200 games, 7,000+ appearances and some unreal, pinch-yourself moments that never once made this feel like work. I will forever be grateful to the hundreds of staff, coaches, players and cheerleaders I've had the privilege to work with. Your love, support and yes, at times, tolerance are appreciated more than you know.
To the Weavers, I love you and simply can't thank you enough for giving me a chance, and for then giving me second chances smile emoticon
To Mr. Khan and Mark Lamping, it's been a pleasure having a front row seat for the past 3 years to some truly great moments and achievements in our team’s history. It's been my passion to entertain the Jaguars fan base and help it grow. I’m proud of what has been accomplished and am confident that, in the words of Delores Weaver, the best is yet to come!
Finally to the fans, what can I say? YOU made Jaxson who he is. Your laughter, applause, cheers and support are things I am certain a doctor would classify as an addiction for me. I would not have lasted 19 seasons without you. YOU are what made this decision the toughest, but knowing that I'll get to CIRCLE UP at the Slab, sit in the stands and get rowdy on game days makes this a "sweetsweet" moment in my life!

Úgy tűnik Curtis Dvorak, a srác Jaxson de Ville maszkja mögött visszavonul. Ő is az első nap óta van a csapatnál (mellesleg sokak szerint Észak-Amerika legjobb major league mascotja). 😕

Pénteken kérdezte valaki Hallorentől, hogy a 2016ra tervezett újabb FA nagy bevásárláskor komolyan szóba jöhet-e majd nálunk Bruce Irvin és Eric Weddle. Szerinte mindkettőre igen jó sansz mutatkozhat. Weddle esetében ha FS poszton se Sergio Conceição Brown, se Sample nem tűnik idén majd hosszú távú megoldásnak, akkor szinte biztos, hogy kiemelt célpontunk lesz a szakállas safety jövő tavasszal (Sixo legnagyobb örömére...).Megjegyzem ironikus lenne, ha Weddle ide kerülne, anno 2011ben mindenki azt jósolta, hogy ő lesz a fő célpontunk FAben, aztán ajánlatot se tettünk érte, helyette leigazoltuk jó sok pénzért Dawan Landryt.... Köszi ezt is Gene....

Projecting the Jaguars' initial 53-man roster

So much can and will change between now and Aug. 23, when the Jaguars will cut from 90 to 75 players and certainly between now and Sept. 4, when they must cut down to 53 players.
Last year at this time, we presumed Mike Brewster would start at center, Josh Wells and Tyler Shatley would fight for a practice squad spot, Dekoda Watson would be an impact outside linebacker and Tandon Doss would return punts.

All of it was wrong. Brewster was cut, Wells and Shatley made the active roster, Watson was a zero and Doss was injured.

This year will include more difficult projections because the Jaguars have added a third draft class and more talented players.

“We’re going to have some tough decisions,” coach Gus Bradley said last week during mini-camp, which wrapped up the team’s six-week off-season program. “I think when you put the pads on, you start to see a separation so for us to project right now is difficult.”

But we’ll project a 53-man roster anyway.

In June 2013, we went 37-of-53. In June 2014, we went 48-of-53.

Here is a position by position projection on what the Jaguars will look like when the initial 53-man roster is unveiled in early September, listed in order of importance. For comparison, included are the spots on the 2013-14 Week 1 rosters.

OFFENSE (25 players)

New coordinator (Greg Olson). New pass-catching tight end (Julius Thomas). New tailback (T.J. Yeldon). New slot receiver (Rashad Greene). New right tackle (Jermey Parnell). And maybe a new center (Stefen Wisniewski).

The Jaguars were busy on offense this offseason, all in the name of improving a unit that was last in scoring in 2014, failing to reach 20 points in 11 games.

QUARTERBACKS

2013: Three.

2014: Two.

This year: Two.

1. Blake Bortles: The offense’s success will depend largely on him. Period.

2. Chad Henne: Back for a fourth year with the Jaguars … and third offense.

Cut: Stephen Morris and Jeff Tuel. They’re likely competing for one practice squad spot. Tuel should have the edge because of his familiarity with quarterbacks coach Nathaniel Hackett, his coordinator last year in Buffalo.

RUNNING BACKS

2013: Five (four tailbacks, one fullback).

2014: Five (four tailbacks, one fullback).

This year: Four (four tailbacks).

1. T.J. Yeldon: The Jaguars aren’t handing him the starting job, but they didn’t draft him in the second round to sit around, either. Can run, catch and pass protect.

2. Toby Gerhart: Week 1 injury last year ruined his season, spoiling his first (and only) chance to be every-down back. A lot to like about what he can do on third down.

3. Denard Robinson: Had shining moment last year (consecutive 100-yard games). Will have role in this offense, subbing for Yeldon to begin certain possessions. Could also win kick return spot.

4. Corey Grant: One of our surprises. Ability to be a gunner on punt coverage and return kickoffs gives him the edge.

Cut: Storm Johnson and Bernard Pierce. The Jaguars won’t keep a fullback, but they also won’t keep five tailbacks. Johnson is the Dave Caldwell Era draft pick in the most trouble of not making roster.

TIGHT ENDS

2013: Four.

2014: Three.

This year: Four.

1. Julius Thomas: Newly-acquired difference maker
(24 touchdown catches last two years for Denver) enters camp as team’s top player.

2. Marcedes Lewis: Took significant pay cut to return for 10th — and likely last — season with Jaguars. Will he be content with a block-more-than-catch role?

3. Clay Harbor: Calf injury kept him out of most of the OTAs. Was productive until being benched last November. Is front-runner to back up Thomas.

4. Nic Jacobs: Listed at 269 pounds, but said to be closer to 290, which makes him a fit to back up Lewis.

Cut: Ben Koyack and Connor Hamlett. Koyack, a seventh-round selection last month, is a decent prospect and would be the pick if a fifth tight end
is kept.

RECEIVERS

2013: Four.

2014: Five.

This year: Six.

1. Allen Robinson: Was on pace for 70-plus catches when injured last November. Can he reach 1,000 yards this year?

2. Allen Hurns: A steady player who is always available. That goes a long way in the NFL.

3. Marqise Lee: Injured knee during pre-OTA phase of offseason and will need to catch up quickly to establish Week 1 role.

4. Rashad Greene: Fifth-round draft pick impressed teammates with suddenness and football smarts. Will be top slot receiver.

5. Ace Sanders: We counted out Ace last year. His spot is dependent on him winning the punt return job.

6. Neal Sterling: Likely a redshirt-year-on-the-active-roster candidate. A seventh-round pick, his size (6-4) would see him get snapped up on waivers.

Cut: Tandon Doss, Kasey Closs, Arrelious Benn, Tony Washington, Bryan Walters and Damian Copeland. Doss will need to beat out Sanders for the punt return job. The Jaguars could keep five receivers if they feel Greene is ready to handle punt returns as a rookie.

OFFENSIVE LINEMEN

2013: Nine.

2014: Ten.

This year: Nine.

1. Luke Joeckel (LT): Former second overall pick will be judged on improvement in pass protection.

2. Jermey Parnell (RT): Only seven career starts. But Jaguars, desperate for athleticism, nastiness and durability at right tackle, guaranteed him $14.5 million.

3. Brandon Linder (RG): The Jaguars’ best lineman as a rookie, a lot of teams probably want a do-over for passing on him in 2014 draft (taken in third round).

4. Zane Beadles (LG): Big-money addition last year struggled early but was better late. May be challenged by rookie A.J. Cann, but expect him to start Week 1.

5. Stefen Wisniewski (C): Offseason labrum injury limited him to individual drills during OTAs. Started 45 games at center last three years and is familiar with Greg Olson’s offense.

6. Luke Bowanko (C): Don’t count him out of the center derby, but an interesting development last week was his fluidity at guard.

7. A.J. Cann (LG): Surprise third-round pick is future left guard, but how soon?

8. Austin Pasztor (G/RT): Injuries cost him starting right tackle job last year and was moved back to guard (his college position). Versatility earns him roster spot.

9. Josh Wells (LT): A lot of candidates for the backup tackle spot and the nod goes to Wells, who is noticeably bulkier this offseason.

Cut: Chris Reed, Tyler Shatley, Cody Booth, Jack Rummells, Sam Young and Brennan Williams. Realistically, seven of the nine spots are locked in, meaning these players have to beat out Pasztor or Wells to earn a spot.

DEFENSE (25 players)

The Jaguars reacted accordingly after finishing 24th in takeaways, 27th against the run, 26th in points allowed and tied for last in interceptions.

Through free agency, the Jaguars added four likely Week 1 starters, moves they hope improves the unit’s production (more turnovers, less big plays) and depth (able to handle injuries).

DEFENSIVE LINE

2013: Nine.

2014: 10.

This year: 10.

1. Sen’Derrick Marks (DT): When healthy, he’s the best player on the Jaguars’ defense. But he’s not healthy yet because of an ACL injury last Dec. 28. Don’t expect to see him until Week 1.

2. Jared Odrick (strong-side DE): Signed in opening hours of free agency to add athletic component to the 4B position that was manned last year by Red Bryant, who didn’t make many plays.

3. Andre Branch (weak-side DE): Enters final year of rookie contract with 10 sacks in 38 games. But Dante Fowler’s injury could leave him as the starting Leo. Will be expected to produce double-digit sacks.

4. Roy Miller (NT): Mid-December knee injury required early January surgery but took part in some team drills last week. A base-defense space-eater who moves well for being listed at 310 pounds.

5. Chris Clemons (weak-side DE): Led Jaguars in sacks last year (8.5). Averaged 49.4 snaps per game in 2014; less playing time could equal more production.

6. Ziggy Hood (DT): Rotation player who could see more playing time if Marks isn’t ready for the opener or is on a set snap count.

7. Tyson Alualu (strong-side DE): Re-signed before he could enter the open market, has never missed a game in four NFL seasons can play inside if needed.

8. Ryan Davis (DL): One of team’s most versatile players will be back for a fourth season.

9. Abry Jones (NT): The second-string nose tackle behind Miller, the coaches want him to play more consistently.

10. Michael Bennett (DT): Draft pick will get the last spot because of interior pass-rush potential.

Cut: Richard Ash, Cap Capi, Ike Igbinosun, Eric Crume and Chris Smith. (Dante Fowler will be placed on injured reserve.) It’s tough to find an equation where Smith is kept on the roster.

LINEBACKERS

2013: Six.

2014: Six.

This year: Five.

1. Telvin Smith (weak-side): Second on team last year with 99 tackles as a rookie. Expect him to be around the football more often.

2. Paul Posluszny (middle): Limited to seven games in 2014 with a torn chest muscle. Still viewed as a three-down player.

3. Dan Skuta (strong-side): This Otto spot was a black hole last year and Skuta was added from San Francisco to provide run defense/pass coverage/pass rush.

4. LaRoy Reynolds (strong-side/middle): Unable to capitalize on chance to start last year, but roster spot is safe because of special teams ability.

5. Thurston Armbrister (strong-side/middle): Undrafted rookie impressed coaches this month who don’t think he would clear waivers.

Cut: Jeremiah George, Khairi Fortt, John Lotulelei, Todd Thomas and Matt Robinson. If the Jaguars opt to keep six linebackers, George could be the pick because he can play the weak-side spot.

CORNERBACKS

2013: Five.

2014: Five.

This year: Five.

1. Davon House: The Jaguars are betting House — two interceptions in 40 games for Green Bay — can elevate himself to top-corner status. They need him to; Jaguars had only six INTs last year.

2. Aaron Colvin: One of our picks for Breakout Player. Will see plenty of playing time, either as an every-down player or a sub-package slot corner.

3. Demetrius McCray: Started final 12 games last year. If he doesn’t start, will play nickel outside when Colvin moves inside.

4. Dwayne Gratz: Starter-turned-reserve earned coaching staff’s praise this month, but No. 4 corner at best.

5. Jeremy Harris: One of the players who helped his stock during OTAs and has early lead on the final spot.

Cut: Peyton Thompson, Tommie Campbell, Rashaad Reynolds and Nick Marshall. Campbell (special teams), Reynolds (we haven’t seen him play a lot) and Marshall (new position) are intriguing training camp views.

SAFETIES

2013: Five.

2014: Four.

This year: Five.

1. Johnathan Cyprien (SS): Led Jaguars with 111 tackles last year. Next step is more impact plays.

2. Sergio Brown (FS): Signed from Indianapolis, was going to compete for starting spot with James Sample but now is the choice by default.

3. James Sample (FS): Sustained broken arm earlier month and had surgery. Not expected to practice for another two months.

4. Josh Evans (SS/FS): Moved to strong safety after Sample was drafted and is a functional back-up.

5 Craig Loston (SS): Projecting a fifth safety will make team because of Sample’s injury, which could take place of a sixth cornerback or sixth linebacker.

Cut: Matt Daniels and Desmond Cooper. Daniels is on the radar after coach Gus Bradley said last week he had shown improvement.

SPECIAL TEAMS (3 players)

2013: Three.

2014: Three.

This year: Three.

1. Josh Scobee 💋‍: Longest-tenured Jaguars player will be back for a 12th season.

2. Bryan Anger (P): Only punter in camp.

3. Carson Tinker (LS): Only long snapper in camp.

Cut: Jason Myers 💋‍ and Kasey Redfern 💋‍. The real intrigue on special teams will come in the return game.

98. Blake Bortles, Quarterback, Jacksonville Jaguars

As far as young quarterbacks go, it’s an age of instant gratification. Since the NFL expanded to 32 teams and the eight-division alignment in 2002, nine rookie quarterbacks have gone to the playoffs in Year One. When the Jaguars selected Blake Bortles with the No. 3 pick in the 2014 draft they knew he was a different breed, a raw talent with the emphasis on raw. Despite his physical gifts, Bortles’ mechanics were so out-of-whack that the Jaguars were leaning toward a redshirt year. He ended up debuting last September, compiling a few brilliant moments but typically looking overwhelmed over the course of a three-win season. The Jaguars have spent two seasons loading up on passing-game weapons, spending big on walking mismatch Julius Thomas and burning top-75 picks on Allen Robinson and Marqise Lee in the ’14 draft. Bortles doesn’t have to be Mark Brunell. He doesn’t even have to be David Garrard. But this is a fan base wearing the scars of four straight double-digit-loss seasons, and a fan base that just watched this year’s No. 3 overall pick Dante Fowler, the long-awaited edge rushing monster, crumple to the ground with a torn ACL while practicing in shorts. What Bortles has to do is show enough progress as a passer—particularly functionality within the pocket—to show that he won’t be the next Blaine Gabbert. He has to become proof positive of hope in Jacksonville.

84. Shahid Khan, Owner, Jacksonville Jaguars

Since Khan purchased the Jacksonville Jaguars in late 2011, his team has posted no more than four wins in a season. But Jacksonville has played an important role in one of the NFL’s most prized initiatives: London. The Jaguars are midway through a four-year agreement to play one regular-season home game per season in London, a lynchpin of the league’s efforts to grow its presence in the U.K. and test the viability of a London-based NFL franchise. The Jaguars have shot down speculation that they could eventually relocate to London (a Union Jax fan club already exists), instead portraying the international commitment as a lucrative investment that boosted revenue and stabilized the franchise financially since Khan bought the team. Either way, if the Jaguars extend their London arrangement past 2016, both the team and the NFL benefit.
