Érdekes, hogy nálunk, a Falconsnál (a hírek szerint Quinn fel akart tradelni velünk hogy megszerezze egykori játékosát, a Redskinsnél és a Seahawksnál (lásd Pete Caroll smse Bradleynek) is Fowler volt big board legtetején!

Gus Bradley, Dan Quinn and Washington general manager Scot McCloughan all came from Seattle so they're familiar with the system and what fits where, Quinn even utilized a similar system when he was the defensive coordinator of the Florida Gators and recruited Dante Fowler to the team. Something interesting that struck me this morning was the fact that the Jaguars viewed Fowler as the best player at his position, the Falcons wanted to trade up for Fowler and Washington reportedly was planning to draft him No. 5 overall if he fell to them.

"We had a lot of discussions as well [about the No. 3 pick] and we talked early about the potential of moving up there. There were probably two or three players, that I won't necessarily get into right now, that were worthy of thinking about moving up to three. Compensation was big," Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff told 680 The Fan in Atlanta on Friday morning.

"Dave was bullish on the guy he took, he knew that we were focused on that guy as well," Dimitroff continued.

Nos így megszondázva a forrásokat, egyéb írásokat én RB draftra készülök 2/4en. Caldwell kijelentette, hogy idén sok 12es (1 RB, 2 TE) formációt fogunk használni, és így kevesebb lehetősége lesz majd a WReknek, és emiatt nem hiszem, hogy WRt vinnénk a 2. körben. Ha ez igaz, akkor én a TE draftot sem zárom ki a 3. körben (Clive Walford a Miamiból jöhet talán?)

Ha tippelnem kéne, szerintem ma a Yeldon - Lockett duóval zárjuk a napot, utóbbiért talán esetleg fel is tradelhetünk. Slot WR ugyanis kell, és Lockett erre az egyik legalkalmasabb wideout az egész drafton.

Mondjuk egy kisebb letrade is benne van a pakliban a 2. köre elején, sok olyan játékos van, akiért érdemes feljönni(A 2 Collins, Gregory, Kendricks, vagy valamelyik WR a DGB-Strong duóból, netán valakinek teljesen elmentek otthonról, akkor a QB draft sem kizárt).

Én Eric Kendrickst vinném 2/4en, de nagyon úgy tűnik, hogy ma a támadókon lesz a hangsúly nálunk.
Yeldon vagy Duke Johnson szerintem a legesélyesebb arra, hogy itt kössön ki (Abdullah és Ajayi a wild cardok) a 2. körben.

A 3. körben pedig Lockett, Rashad Greene és esetleg a Georgia Teches DeAndre Smelter (bár ő akkora reach lenne a 3. körben, mint Yeldon lesz/lenne a 2.ban) vagy ha TEt akarunk akkor Walford jöhet szóba. TE azért kell, mert Marcedes nem hiszem, hogy maradna jövőre is, plusz a sérülésekre is gondolni kell.

FOUR REASONS WHY THE PICK MAKES SENSE

-The Jaguars filled arguably their biggest need on the roster in selecting Florida defensive end Dante Fowler. Chris Clemons, the starter at the pass-rush Leo spot, is 33. His backup, Andre Branch, is entering the final year of his rookie contract and has been inconsistent. The Jaguars needed to invest in a pass rusher capable of consistently producing double-digit sacks.

-The 6-foot-3, 261-pound Fowler has it all athletically. He's heavier than most of the speed rushers in the draft, weighing considerably more than Clemson's Vic Beasley (246), Nebraska's Randy Gregory (235) and Missouri's Shane Ray (249). Fowler also ran the 40-yard dash in 4.60 seconds (with an impressive 1.56 time at 10 yards) at the Scouting Combine in February. He doesn't turn 21 until Aug. 3, so he's not close to his physical peak.

-Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell can really attack the rest of his team's needs now. Had he selected USC defensive tackle Leonard Williams, considered by most analysts the best overall player in the draft, needs at Leo, running back, slot receiver and free safety would have to wait a round. Now, Caldwell should have an excellent group of running backs and receivers to choose from in the second round (No. 36 overall) and third (No. 67). A fourth-round free safety will be a quality player.

-The Jaguars had to balance out the roster. Caldwell has selected offensive players with four of his five picks in the first and second round over his first two drafts. He needed to get coach Gus Bradley an impact defender. Bradley's defense requires a dominant athlete at Leo and the Jaguars feel Fowler fits the bill. Caldwell even noted that next year's crop of pass rushers in the draft doesn't look promising.

ONE REASON WHY IT DOESN'T

-Fowler consistently got into the backfield at Florida, recording 34 tackles for a loss in a career with just 25 starts. That's impressive. However, his sack totals aren't. Fowler recorded 14.5 in his 37-game career. Three of those came in the bowl game last season against East Carolina with a gassed offensive line and a quarterback holding the ball for a long time. To his credit, Fowler did have 4.5 in games against Florida State, South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee. Beasley for instance had 33 sacks over the last three seasons. Gregory, Kentucky's Bud Dupree and Virginia's Eli Harold had more as well. If Fowler wasn't much of a sack artist with the Gators, how can he turn into one at a much higher level of football?

Fowler megérte a picket, nem második körös kaliber, és needre is jött.

The Jaguars’ direction at No. 3 overall in the 2015 NFL Draft surprised those who believed the selection would be Southern California defensive tackle Leonard Williams. Others believed it would be Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper. Caldwell said the Jaguars liked both players, but because of fit, they liked Fowler a bit more.
And here’s the thing we learned a half hour after the pick:
This selection wasn’t too difficult for the Jaguars, and was pretty much made last Friday. Caldwell and Bradley said they talked extensively after the team’s pre-draft luncheon with the media that day, and it became quickly obvious each wanted Fowler.

“All of our conversations came back to him,” Bradley said.

Caldwell said the decision was made that day, and that the biggest reason was Fowler just plain fit what the Jaguars wanted. And more specifically, what they needed.
Caldwell said there was very little difference between Williams and Fowler in terms of talent level. Where there was a difference was scheme fit. And there was a difference in need, too.

“He’s a good fit in our scheme and we need an edge rusher,” Caldwell said. “We need a young edge rusher. … Young edge rushers are hard to find.”

Almost immediately after the Fowler selection was announced, Bradley got a text from Carroll: "Awesome pick, Gus!" Caldwell received similar messages from colleagues around the league, one of whom texted, "You just got the best player in the draft."

Eddig ahogy nézem tobnyire A a legrosszabb a B+ , nagyon remélem hogy beválik.....

A reakciómat gondolom láttátok. Egyben reménykedek, hogy Lindernél és Allen Robinsonnál is szörnyülködtem tavaly és ők eddig rám cáfoltak. Tegye meg ezt Dante is.

Caldwell szerint végül a need győzött, ezért lett ő a pick. LEOnak hoztuk.

A stábot meggyőzte az mennyire kemény, mennyire fizikális(Caldwell szerint senki sem ennyire fizikális az edge rusherek közül, mint ő), mennyire elkötelezett a foci iránt.
Caldwell nem kapott hívást letradere 1/3ra.
Odrick miatt (is) nem Leonard Williams lett a pick. Caldwell szerint jövőre rosszabb lesz az edge rusher felhozatal ezért is döntött most egy fiatal, elit(?) DE mellett. Szerinte ha kell, tud DTi is játszani, ezt tette néha a Floridán is.
