So Dolphins will close 8-9. This 6 year rebuild brought us 2 wild card losses, an incredible Tua performance in Week 2 in Baltimore 3 years ago, some entertaining 1 p.m. home games against bad teams, 1 win vs. Bills and two neat 4:25 home wins vs. Dallas, 49ers. That covers it.

Per Jones’s report: “Chris Grier has been in the Miami Dolphins organization since 2000. He has seen one Miami playoff win since then (a wild-card victory in his first season as a scout with the team.) A strong rumor around the league during the fall was that Grier could retire and move to a senior advisor role.

But many have questioned whether the 84-year-old Stephen Ross would want to conduct a search for a new GM, especially considering how well-liked Grier is within the building.

Since becoming GM in 2016, Grier has hired three different head coaches and gotten to three postseasons with no wins. The Dolphins have a slim chance of making the playoffs this year.”

That would be average of 13.3 starts over last four seasons. Hard to have starting QB miss 4 starts per season without one of top 8 NFL backups.

The Miami Dolphins are waiving former Pro-Bowl edge rusher Shaq Barrett from the Reserve Retired list today. Barrett can play again this season if he clears waivers Friday. If another team claims him, then Barrett would be ineligible to play the rest of this season. “We appreciate the Dolphins giving Shaq this opportunity to continue his career in the NFL,” said Barrett’s agent Drew Rosenhaus. “Hopefully he will pass through waivers and become a free agent so he can play again this season. He is in great shape and would be ready to play immediately.”

An update on the status of Dolphins WR Grant DuBose:

After sustaining a head injury in yesterday’s game, Grant DuBose remained at a local Houston hospital for evaluation overnight. He has movement in all extremities and initial tests have revealed positive results. He remains under the care of doctors for continued observation.
