Bortles was making the media rounds this morning to promote the new Florida-based sports drink BODYARMOR.

In a phone interview, he touched on several topics:

*On the offensive coordinator search:

“Gus is doing a really good job in terms of his doing his due diligence and trying to find a guy who is not only the right fit as the play-caller and offensive coordinator but as a guy,” Bortles said. “It’s something I’m excited about. I talked briefly [with Bradley] on Monday about it and I have all the trust in the world in Gus that he’ll find the right guy.”

*On doing his homework on the candidates:

Bortles said he has talked with Oakland quarterback Derek Carr about Greg Olson, current Jaguars left guard Zane Beadles about Adam Gase and he ran into Doug Marrone last week at EverBank Field and talked to him personally.

“Every name that’s been out there, I’ve tried to get in contact with guys who know them,” Bortles said. “It’s helped to hear what other guys have to say, especially quarterbacks and getting their perspective. But it’s been cool to get an offensive lineman’s take, too.”

*On having an offensive coordinator with a quarterback-coaching background:

“Having an offensive coordinator that has a quarterback’s perspective paired with a quarterbacks coach is definitely an advantage,” Bortles said.

*On organizing an off-season passing camp:

“I’ve talked to everybody and everybody’s in,” Bortles said. “I’m headed out to [San Diego] pretty soon to start training. Anybody that runs routes and catches passes [will be invited].”

Stats: A three-year starter, Prewitt recorded 247 tackles (14 for loss) in his career with 12 interceptions, five forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.

The Jaguars’ situation: Josh Evans didn’t intercept a pass and had just two pass breakups last season. After two seasons, Evans is a heady player but doesn’t excel in any area.

Why Prewitt fits: He’s a playmaker. Prewitt gained 174 return yards off his dozen picks with the Rebels, a 14.5-yard average. His forced fumble totals are impressive as well. Neither Evans nor strong safety Johnathan Cyprien forced a fumble this past season, despite making a combined 201 tackles. The Jaguars need a free safety that can force turnovers and that’s Prewitt’s reputation. Prewitt is also bigger than Evans (6-0, 205).

OT TY SAMBRAILO COLORADO STATE, 6-5, 310

Stats: Started 42 games in his career. Colorado State averaged 481 yards a game last season, featuring a 4,000-yard passer and 1,200-yard rusher. The school says Sambrailo graded out at least 90 percent in every contest.

The Jaguars’ situation: Despite a franchise-worst 71 sacks, four starters on the line seem entrenched for 2015. The right tackle spot is the one where the Jaguars need to upgrade. Austin Pasztor is serviceable, but is often injured.

Why Sambrailo fits: Sambrailo is a nimble athlete who is a well-rounded blocker. The right tackle spot is gaining importance around the league and even more so for AFC South teams that have to face Houston’s versatile defensive end J.J. Watt twice a year.

TE CLIVE WALFORD MIAMI, 6-4, 263

Stats: Started 35 career games, catching 121 passes for 1,753 yards and 14 touchdowns. Walford gained 676 yards this past season with seven scores.

The Jaguars’ situation: The offense needs an athletic tight end that can be more than a red-zone threat. Marcedes Lewis (if he isn’t released) is often clumsy as a route runner unless he’s battling for a jump ball. The Jaguars need to find quarterback Blake Bortles a reliable security blanket who can consistently move the chains and bring playmaking ability to the passing game.

Why Walford (left) fits: Look at his average per catch. Walford averaged 14.5 yards a catch in his career, a hugely impressive number. He was even better as a senior, gaining 15.4 yards per grab including a 61-yard touchdown against Florida State.

OLB LORENZO MAULDIN LOUISVILLE, 6-4, 252

Stats: Started 33 career games (first 21 on the defensive line), making 119 tackles (34 behind the line) with 21.5 sacks and five forced fumbles.

The Jaguars’ situation: The Jaguars need to find a game-changer at coach Gus Bradley’s Otto linebacker spot. The experiment generated little production in its first year last season. Dekoda Watson was a free-agent bust, LaRoy Reynolds was benched after the first three games and injuries took a toll on the whole position group later in the season.

Why Mauldin fits: His skill set and size would seem to translate well to Bradley’s Otto. Mauldin would be comfortable playing close to the line of scrimmage and is strong against the run with quality pass-rush ability. Mauldin also has a reputation of being a high-motor, high-character player.

MLB DENZEL PERRYMAN MIAMI, 5-11, 240

Stats: In 37 career starts for the Hurricanes, Perryman made 351 tackles (27 for loss) with 4.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles and two interceptions.

The Jaguars’ situation: The Jaguars are counting on Paul Posluszny to bounce back from a torn pectoral injury that cost him the final nine games last season. However, Posluszny is 30 and has 1,063 career tackles of wear and tear on his body. It might be time to start grooming his replacement.

Why Perryman fits: He’s an enforcer and a tone setter, something the Jaguars defense needs. Perryman could play the Otto with Posluszny entrenched in the middle and give the Jaguars depth if Posluszny was injured again.

The line of reasoning: The Jaguars need to run it better to set up the play-action pass downfield.

Auburn WR Sammie Coates: Height/Weight/Speed freak. Incomplete player, but offers a skillset no other WR on roster can. Would have the opportunity to be the specific role player he really is.

Miami DB Ladarius Gunter: Project DB, but has the size, length, and athleticism Bradley likes in DB's. If they let Ball walk, drafting a DB is not out of the question.

Clemson ILB Stephone Anthony: Heat seeking missile at ILB. This is the type of exposure that players like him (high energy athlete) thrive at. Stock could rise a ton.

Auburn RB Cameron Artis-Payne: Explosive and productive SEC RB. Fits the downhill profile the Jags brass seem to prefer.

Miami TE Clive Walford: If I had to pick any player n the south squad for Jax to end up with, it might be Walford. Huge TE who has been a proven chain mover, RZ threat. Can block and line up all across formation. Major upgrade at TE needed.

Arkansas LB Martrell Spaight: Productive SR year, arguably best athlete among the South squads LB's.

Colorado State OT Ty Sambrailo: One of the drafts early risers, could become a 1st round pick by May. If not, could do a lot worse than him as RT at the top of round 2.

UCLA DL Owamagbe Odighizuwa: Definitely not a LEO, but could be used in a similar way to Michael Bennett in Seattle. Productive vs the run, size/quickness/strength to disrupt plays from multiple spots, specifically inside.

LSU OT La'el Collins: RIP my mentions for this, but if Jax doesn't sign a FA RT, I could see them drafting one very early. I wouldn't do it obviously, but if they do, La'El Collins would be my guy. Would add a new mentality to the OL from day 1.

Oklahoma OT Daryl Williams: Plan B for RT in the draft. Very similar traits to Collins, but could be found much later in draft. A starting talent.

Oklahoma OTTO Geneo Grissom: Misused as an Edge Rusher at Oklahoma, but shows the traits for OTTO. Does a good job setting edge vs run, athletic enough to blitz/cover the pass.

Mississippi State DL Preston Smith: Very similar player to Odighizuwa. If he can add the weight, could be a killer 5T.

Louisville OTTO Lorenzo Mauldin: Solid pass rusher who has flashed throughout his entire CFB career. Would offer athleticism and energy to the front 7. Can be used along a multitude of spots.

Norfolk State OLB/DE Lynden Trail: Former high ranking Gator recruit, has been used as both a standup LB and hand in the dirt DE. Good blend of size and athleticism. Late round project right now who could rise a ton with a good week of practice.

Ma Nathaniel Hackett járt OC interjún nálunk. A Bills és a Syracuse OCje volt Marrone alatt. Egyes vélemények szerint vele jobban járnánk támadókoordinátorként, mint pl az egykori fönökével.
Heckett mellesleg ismeri Gust Tampából, amikor egy csapatnál dolgoztak.

A Falcons és a Rams mellett mi is hivatalosan engedélyt kértünk beszélni Adam Gasezel, a Broncos OCjával.

Szerencsére úgy tűnik, Gus mindenkivel igyekszik hosszú időt eltölteni, azt mondta a heti rádió showjában, hogy a héten volt egy OC interjú, ami reggel 8tól este 11ig tartott (nem Olsené, tippre Doug Marrone volt ez).

Gus 6 személyes OC interjút tartott eddig, neveket nem említve.
