Former Hawaii kicker Kansei Matsuzawa is signing with the Raiders, per his agents @isa_management.

Born in Japan, Matsuzawa — AKA “The Tokyo Toe” — now brings his leg to Las Vegas.


This is awesome because Kansei Matsuzawa attended a Raiders game when he first visited America, and that's how he fell in love with football.

Why is this important?

Because unlike rounds 1, 2 and to an extent 3, 4th round picks in 2026 will “receive four-year contracts totaling approximately $4.99 million to $5.48 million, featuring a signing bonus of around $800,000 to over $1 million.”

In light of his severe knee injury, likely one that will require a 2nd surgery that will knock him out a full year, there’s a very good chance that surgery fails, and he will never be able to return. Here’s the important part of the contact structure:

“While total contract values are high, only the signing bonus and small portions of salary are typically guaranteed, rather than the full contract value.”

The #Raiders are signing Hawaii kicker Kansei Matsuzawa, who bought a ticket to see the Raiders as a tourist from Japan and decided that day he wanted to play in the NFL.

Known as "The Tokyo Toe," Matsuzawa is now the first Japanese player to join an NFL roster via the International Player Pathway (IPP) program.

Matt Gay is the only other kicker on the Raiders’ roster after the team moved on from Daniel Carlson.
