"The Giants kicked off, and true to form Lynn Chandnois caught the ball on the dead run at the nine-yard line. Not a Giant touched him. It was a 91-yard kick-off return for a touchdown. Exactly 17 seconds into the game the Steelers had a 7-0 lead. The Steelers rang up a second touchdown by Chandnois in the first quarter, and scored twice in the second quarter on passes from Jim Finks to Elbie Nickel (21 yards) and to Ray Mathews (42 yards).

The situation looked bad for the Giants.

Then disaster struck. Their regular quarterback, Charlie Conerly, and their back-up quarterback, Fred Benners, were both injured during the first half. TOP10-ben kéne lenniük sztem, és bármelyik lehet No.1., ha nem a fenti:

In many ways, this 1999 win (41-28) over the Jets signaled a new beginning for the Giants under Jim Fassel. It was just second start as a Giants for free-agent QB Kerry Collins, and on this day he would become the first Giants quarterback to exceed 300 yards passing since Phil Simms six years earlier. With Fassel mourning the death of his mother and the team mired at 5-6. it was the first chance for QB coach Sean Payton to call plays and open up the offense.

It would be the first time that former coach Bill Parcells returned to Giants Stadium as a visitor and lost, and it would be the first time that the Giants boast a 300-yard passer (Kerry Collins), a 100-yard runner (Joe Montgomery), and two 100-yard receivers in the same game (Ike Hilliard és Amani Toomer).

Bár a legtöbben úgy látták, hogy a kísérlet sikerült, Halloran játékvezető szerint mellé ment a magasan szálló labda. (A kapuvasak akkoriban még lényegesen rövidebbek voltak.) Hallorant rendőröknek kellett megvédeniük a dühös washingtoni játékosoktól és drukkerektől, a Giants pedig megnyerte a divíziót és bajnoki döntőt játszhatott a Packers ellen. (Amit egyébként elveszítettek.)

Backup quarterback Mark Malone's unlikely 90-yard scoring grab was one of the few Steelers highlights of the 1981 season.



Mark Malone három éven keresztül volt az Arizona State kezdő irányítója, 1980-ban a Senior Bowl MVP-jének választották és a Steelers az 1980-as draft első körében húzta be. Sokoldalúságát kihasználandó egy 1981-es előszezon-meccsen már kipróbálták elkapóként, és atletikus képességeit jól jellemzi, hogy a Seahawks elleni összecsapáson egy hitch route-ot futva kapta meg azt az átadást Terry Bradshawtól, amelyet végül 90 yardos TD-elkapásra váltott.
