Atlanta receiver Julio Jones made his final catch with 13 minutes remaining in the Falcons’ 23-17 win over the Jaguars Sunday.
But by that time, his damage had been done. Jones was targeted 14 times and made nine catches for 118 yards and one touchdown. Cornerback Davon House had the assignment for most of the game.
When House was in man coverage, Jones was targeted nine times and had six catches. House had one pass break-up.
The Falcons used a steady diet of crossing routes with Jones, which forced House to track him through traffic.
In order, Jones caught passes on a short out (five yards), an over pattern (23), a crosser against zone coverage (14 and 14 yards), a crosser behind the line of scrimmage (11-yard touchdown, when House got caught up in traffic), an out (13), another crosser against zone (12), a straight-down-the-field route (19 yards) and a short out (five).
House had two visible errors. He got turned inside out on a 13-yard catch and allowed Jones a free release to make the 19-yard catch to convert a third-and-9.

When the Jaguars had the ball
*Skill position playing time leaders (62 snaps): QB Blake Bortles 62, RB Denard Robinson 62, WR Allen Robinson 60, WR Allen Hurns 54, TE Julius Thomas 52 and TE Marcedes Lewis 32.
*Atlanta rushed five or more players on 11 of Bortles’ 45 drop-backs (24.4 percent). Bortles was 6-of-9 passing for 96 yards (and a one-yard touchdown run) against pressure.
*WR Rashad Greene had the Jaguars’ only dropped pass.
*”Bad run” tracker (rushing attempt of less than two yards not including short-yardage): C Stefen Wisniewski 1 1/2, RG A.J. Cann 1, LT Luke Joeckel 1/2, Thomas 1/2 and unblocked player 1.
*A tough day in pass protection for Joeckel (three allowed pressures), Denard Robinson (pressure and a half-sack) and LG Zane Beadles (1 1/2 sacks).
*Atlanta’s two sacks of Bortles: Six-man rush vs. six-man protection on third-and-10, Beadles was bull-rushed by DT Grady Jarrett and LB Justin Durant pushed back Denard Robinson. Bortles was in trouble at 2.78 seconds and the sack/forced fumble went to LB Phillip Wheeler, who had squeezed by RT Jermey Parnell. … Four-man rush vs. five-man protection on second-and-3, Beadles was cleanly beat by DE Adrian Clayborn, who used an inside swim move (2.34 seconds).
*Bortles had success throwing downfield. He was 8-of-13 passing for 185 yards on attempts that traveled at least 16 yards in the air.
*On Bortles’ second touchdown run in as many weeks, he looked for Thomas (who was covered) before tucking it and easily reaching the end zone.
*The Fourth Quarter To Forget: First drive – Bortles was off target on a swing pass to Denard Robinson, who then fumbled on second down. Third down was a sack. … Second drive – On second-and-1, Robinson fumbled again and the Jaguars gained 10 yards on third-and-16. … Third drive – Turned the ball over on downs with 48 seconds remaining.
When the Falcons had the ball
*Playing time leaders (74 snaps): CB Davon House 74, CB Aaron Colvin 74, SS Johnathan Cyprien 74, LB Paul Posluszny 73, LB Telvin Smith 68, DE Jared Odrick 61 and DE Andre Branch 52.
*DT Michael Bennett’s 33 snaps were his most since playing 38 at Tampa Bay (Week 5). Injuries at linebacker forced Hayes Pullard (six snaps) and Thurston Armbrister (five) on the field.
*The Jaguars rushed five or more players on 16 of QB Matt Ryan’s 40 drop-backs (40 percent). Ryan was 7-of-14 passing for 93 yards against pressure.
*Missed tackles: House, Colvin, Josh Evans, Dan Skuta and Telvin Smith.
*The Jaguars’ only sack of Ryan: Five-man rush vs. five-man protection on second-and-8. The Jaguars rush three defensive linemen and two linebackers. Odrick bull-rushed RG Chris Chester to gain position and a second effort resulted in the sack (3.15 seconds).
*Yikes, the Jaguars were bad on third down. On the Falcons’ final drive, Ryan threw 20 yards to WR Justin Hardy, who was open when Colvin buzzed out to cover nobody on the sideline; a third-and-5, Ryan seven yards to Hardy when nickel CB Nick Marshall was slow to close; and a third-and-13, Ryan 17 yards to WR Roddy White when Marshall was flat-footed and White simply powered past him.
Special teams
*K Jason Myers averaged 3.88 seconds on four kickoffs. Three were touchbacks and Atlanta returned one five yards deep out to the Jaguars’ 19. That kick had a 4.25-second hang time.
*P Bryan Anger averaged 4.19 seconds on his six punts. He started with net kicks of 38, 32 and 21 yards, but finished with net attempts of 42, 57 and 43.
*Atlanta’s Eric Weems caught a direct snap for a fake punt. He gained the first down but Jaguars WR Neal Sterling was held on the play.
*On Nick Marshall’s bad-decision punt return, the hang time (4.31 seconds) should have told him to take a knee. As for any communication, Joe Banyard didn’t signal him to either stay put or start a return.

Bortles elégé középszerű tegnapi teljesítménye a PFFtől +1,9et ért. Láttam kicsit följebb vitték a múlt heti 4 total TDs 0 INTes értékét -5,6ról -2,9re(tudjátok, amikor 51-16ra nyertünk). Biztos bennem van a hiba, hogy teljesen logikátlannak látom ezt...
És hogy az ESPN sem maradjon ki a jól megérdemelt megszégyenlésből, náluk a tegnapi teljesítménye 44.7 QPR eredményezett. Az 51-16os meccsre meg kapott 3,8at... WTF?
Joeckel idén 2 sacket, 7 QB hitet, és 29 siettetést engedett eddig. Az első 2 elfogadható, a 3. már nem annyira.

Épp belegondoltam, hogy mennyire szar érzés az, hogy miközben Bortles megdöntheti év végére a franchise csúcsot passzolt yardokban és 10est verhet a régi passzolt TD rekordra, plusz könnyen lehet, hogy nem 1, de 2 1000 yardos WRünk lesz, mindezek ellenére kb 5-11es vagy 6-10es mérleggel zárunk majd, mindezt baromi kedvező menetrenddel összehozva...Az offseasonban a védelem nagy generálja mellett a fő prioritásnak annak kellene lennie, hogy sürgősen meg kéne tanulnunk nyerni és kiszűrni az ostoba hibáinkat a rendszerből. Mert még egyszer ilyen rossz nem lesz a divízió, és ebben a szar divízióban így is csak a már-már szokásos 3. hely néz ki nekünk...

Ez a meccs megint a sors furcsa fintora volt. Ki tudja miért, de ugye a falcons-jaguars két jó barát, sokat edz együtt és ide-oda vándorol a stáb. Erre jön ez a meccs ami nekünk már totál m1

Mivel már más lényeges kvázi nem maradt, jöjjenek a statisztikák:Bortles 547 yardra van Mark Brunell szezon franchise csúcsának megdöntésétől passzolt yardokban. 273,5 yardot kéne passzolni átlagban a következő 2 meccsen hogy meglegyen a rekord.
Egy újabb jó példa, hogy mennyit változott a liga 20 év alatt: Brunell 1996ban 1. volt a 4367 yardjával. Brady 14 meccs alatt már jobb nála idén, és még hatan beelőzhetik a szezon végére, köztük Blake.
Bortles 6. passzolt yardokban (vasárnapi ellenfelünk, Drew Brees ma az MNFen majd megelőzi, így majd 7. lesz várhatóan a forduló után), TD passzokban visszacsúszott az 5. helyre, viszont a 20+ yardos átadásokban újra 1. (ő és Palmer között dől el ez a párharc idén). Pickekben 3.;benyelt sackekben 2.
Az O visszacsúszott a 11. helyre szerzett pontokban.
A-Rob vezeti a ligát OBJ holtversenyben TD elkapásokban, valamint 5 elkapásnyi előnye van 20+ yardos elkapásokban a 2. Antonio Brownhoz képest. Elkapott yardokban 7.
Hurns 23. elkapott yardokban és már csak 93 yard kell neki az 1000hez. Még 51 yard kellene neki, hogy ő legyen a legtöbb yardot elkapó UDFA az NFLben 2 szezon után (1970 óta).
Telvin 3.; a törött kézzel óriásit játszó Poz 2 meccs kihagyással 6. szerelésekben. Ha csak a szóló szereléseket nézzük, a Telvin a 2. Navarro Bowman mögött és a Poz a 4.!
Julius Thomas 10 meccs alatt 1 elkapásra van a tavalyi Denverben elkapott mennyiségtől. Akkor 14 meccsre volt szüksége a 43hoz. Most 42nél jár, igaz 7el kevesebb TDje van idén. De szép chemistry kezd közte és Blake között kialakulni, ami nagyon biztató a jövőre nézve.
Úgy tűnik, hogy a 4 sérültből egy sem nagyon komoly, Skuta volt az egyedüli, aki nem tért vissza a meccsbe. Remélhetőleg ma sem kapunk rosszabb híreket. Főleg Telvin izgat, remélem ő rendben lesz. Ja és Yeldon épüljön fel vasárnapra!

IKTRIAD KULCSAI A GYŐZELEMHEZ - Week 15 Edition (brought to you by Los Pollos Hermanos! Los Pollos Hermanos: where something good is always cooking.)
1. Vegyél repülőrajtot! Sajnos a Jaguars az egyik legrosszabb csapat idén, ami első negyedben szerzett pontokat illeti, de most különösen fontos lenne, hogy jól sikerüljön a kezdés. Ha sikerülne nagyobb előnyt kiharcolni az elején, lehet pár Falcons játékos nem dobna be már mindet a félidőhöz közeledve és a 2. félidőben.
2. Ne büntessen a 11es! Julio Jones biztos jelentkezik pár elkapással és valószínűleg úgy 100 yard körül lesz a meccsen minimum a meccs végére. Ha azonban az endzoneon kívül tudjuk tartani a meccsen, az fél siker is lehet a győzelemre nézve. És ha már egy 11es mezű WR szóba került, akkor nem lenne baj, ha az albínó tigris is megtalálná idén az ellenfél végzónáját! Az évi 1 TDjét ideje lenne megszereznie.
3. Ne botolj meg a cipőfűzőben! Denard múlt héten jól futkározott a 2. félidőben, ma viszont az egész meccs az övé lesz néhány futást leszámítva. Fontos, hogy ne csak 2-3 yardos araszolások jöjjenek tőle. Jó lenne, ha nem csak az elkapóinkra figyelne a teljes Falcons D.
4. Üsd a vasat amíg meleg! Az elmúlt 11 redzonebeli látogatásunk TDvel ért véget. Jó lenne ezt a hibátlan trendet ma is folytatni. Blake egyre jobban összeszokik Julius Thomasszal (4 TD az elmúlt 4 meccsen), és persze ott van a 2 Allen is kéznél. Ráadásul akárcsak Rivers ellen, itt sem fogunk nyerni FGkkel, szóval igyekezünk szórni a 6 pontosokat megint, mint a hókotrós akinek szarnia kell. Különben is jó lenne, ha Bortles már ezen a meccsen megtriplázná a tavalyi TDi számát és mondjuk Hurnst is 10 TDhez degíthetné.
5. Stay alive! Ha ma nyerünk akármi történik a Colts-Texans roncsderbin, a Jaguars életben mard a playoffért folytatott küzdelemben karácsony után is! Ilyenre 5 éve nem volt példa. Nem beszélve arról, hogy legalább már hazai pályán pozitív mérleggel tudnánk zárni, ami szintén nem történt meg 2010 óta. Hosszú idő után kifejezetten remek érzés volt a héten a Jaguars fannak lenni, évek óta először figyeltek fel ennyire ránk a médiában pozitív szempontból. Kvázi karácsonyi ajándékként meg lehetne ezt az érzést hosszabbítani még 1 héttel. A fanbase alaposan rászolgált már erre. szóval ne csesszétek el srácok! Felőlem lehet nagyon izzadtságszagú is a W(az amúgy is már-már signiture moveja a csapatnak), de ez a mai győzelem még idén mindenképp legyen meg!
Tipp: Jaguars - Falcons 31-30
Simán zúzzuk a Falconst ma este...Ha nyerünk, akkor tuti hogy hatalmasat szenvedve tesszük. Ha ma is nagy különbséggel nyerünk, akkor tényleg valami nagy gubanc van a mártixban.

Empty úgy emlékszem többször is megtette ezt.😊

Stationed high above the field, Jaguars assistant receivers coach Tony Sorrentino usually waits until between possessions to confer with Jerry Sullivan via radio communication.
But when Allen Robinson caught a four-yard touchdown pass from Blake Bortles in the third quarter of last week’s win over Indianapolis, Sorrentino couldn’t wait.
“Unbelievable route! … Did you see that Jerry? … Unbelievable!” Sorrentino said he bellowed into his headset.
“I was going on and on,” he said four days later.
Sorrentino had reason to. It was a brilliantly-run route by Robinson.
And entering Sunday’s game against Atlanta (6-7), everybody inside and around the Jaguars (5-8) has reason to gush about the team’s stable of receivers.
Severely bereft of talent at the position two years ago, the Jaguars have added Robinson, Allen Hurns, Marqise Lee and Rashad Greene.
Despite their youth, the Jaguars, particularly Robinson and Hurns, are in unique company this year:
■ Only four teams have two players with at least 850 receiving yards: The Jaguars (Robinson, 1,084; Hurns, 863), Arizona (Larry Fitzgerald, 1,088; John Brown, 895), Cleveland (Gary Barnidge, 901; Travis Benjamin, 867) and the Jets (Brandon Marshall, 1,187; Eric Decker, 875).
■ Only three teams have a duo that has combined for 20 touchdown catches: The Jaguars (Robinson, 12; Hurns, 8), Cincinnati (Tyler Eifert, 12; A.J. Green, 8) and the Jets (Marshall, 11; Decker, 9).
■ And only 10 teams have two receivers with at least 50 catches: The Jaguars (Robinson, 66; Hurns, 51), Arizona, Cincinnati, Denver, Detroit, Indianapolis, New England, New Orleans, the Jets and Oakland.
Leading the way as the Jaguars’ receivers coach is Sullivan, 71, who is in his 44th year of coaching. He pushes and prods, encourages and critiques, mentors and tough-loves.
“It’s like I’m getting a master’s degree in ‘Coaching Receivers,’ ” said Sorrentino, 32.
“On Sundays, he’s like the voice in my head,” said Robinson, 22.
“When you think about it, it’s crazy how much he does for us,” said Lee, 24.
“Both Coach Sullivan and Coach Tony are great influences on us, and I can’t emphasize that enough,” said Hurns, 24.
‘HONORED TO COACH THEM’
Sullivan’s office is located halfway between coach Gus Bradley and general manager Dave Caldwell deep inside EverBank Field. On Tuesday afternoon, only a soft light plus the glow of laptop and television screens prevented the small room from feeling like a dungeon.
Sullivan sounds like a proud father … or grandfather.
“It’s just very rewarding to see these guys put in the time, listen, take it to the practice field, take it to the game, grow, prosper and get better at what they’re doing. …
“That’s why I teach. I hope I’ve inspired them and given them a sense of what it takes to play.
“I’m honored to coach them.”
Back in 2012, Sullivan thought he might be one-and-done with the Jaguars. Mike Mularkey was turfed two weeks after the season, but Bradley quickly decided to retain Sullivan, who then thought he may have a solid 1-2 combination in Cecil Shorts (979 yards the previous year) and former first-round pick Justin Blackmon (865 yards as a rookie).
“But then things changed,” Sullivan said. “The injuries never allowed Cecil to get back to where he was in 2012. And Blackmon, he basically came and went — he was out [four-game suspension], came back in [for four games] and we haven’t seen him since.”
In 2013, the Jaguars muddled through with a changing cast. Shorts had 66 catches, Ace Sanders 51 and Mike Brown 32. Reinforcements were required.
Things changed again for Sullivan … for the better. Lee fell to the Jaguars at No. 39 overall, Caldwell traded up to No. 61 to pick Robinson, and then Hurns was signed after the draft. Hurns was a constant last year, not missing a game. Robinson showed flash before breaking his foot, and Lee did some good things after fighting a hamstring injury.
Last off-season, the Jaguars pursued Green Bay slot receiver Randall Cobb, but he never hit the open market. When the draft rolled around, they passed on Kansas State’s Aaron Lockett and then on Greene before taking him in the fifth round.
“I had my fingers crossed and I was just thrilled when he was there [to be drafted],” Sullivan said. “In this day of people liking bigger receivers, my hope was he would be there.”
The players’ totals this year: Robinson 66 catches-1,084 yards-12 touchdowns, Hurns 51-863-8, Greene 16-87-2 and Lee 7-89-0. Robinson and Hurns are established. Greene has impressed since returning from mid-September thumb surgery. Lee is the fastest of the group but hasn’t connected just yet.
2 PLAYS SPEAK VOLUMES
Touchdowns by Hurns and Robinson against Indianapolis were perfect examples of their development.
The Jaguars trailed 13-9 early in the third quarter when Hurns caught an 80-yard touchdown. Robinson’s route took him into the right flat, and Hurns ran downfield.
Watching the play on an iPad, Sullivan said Hurns, “was running a corner route, and he did a good job of pushing up the field. He broke to the corner at the 10-yard mark. … And here comes the safety [Dwight Lowery]. He knew he was going to get popped. But he had no fear and he was going to make the catch.”
Lowery went for the interception and came up empty. Hurns turned up the field at the 43 and scored untouched.
“That kind of play is why, in our room, [Hurns] is the leader and the one everybody looks up to,” Sorrentino said.
And then there was Robinson’s touchdown.
The Jaguars used an unorthodox formation — tight ends Julius Thomas and Marcedes Lewis flexed out right with Robinson and Hurns bunched to the left. Thomas and Lewis ran post and corner routes, respectively. Hurns ran a “flat return” route — a dash to the boundary before pivoting back to the middle of the field.
Robinson ran six yards straight ahead before faking a “stick” route and running a post to catch Bortles’ dart.
Drawing up the play on his office whiteboard, Sullivan said: “I told him the key was to sell the stick route — to quicken his feet up as he made the turn, flip his head back to the quarterback so the guy covering him would drive on the fact that he thinks it’s a stick [or out] route. Very sound.”
Said Robinson: “That was my first time running that route in a game this year. But the work that our coaches put us through to fine-tune that, I was prepared.”
Sullivan then picked up the Colts’ call sheet. The left column is the play-call typed out. The right column includes Sullivan’s hand-written comments.
Hurns’ touchdown: “Great job 88. Make a play. Nice corner angle.”
Robinson’s touchdown: “Excellent No. 15. Footwork wins.”
COMPARISON TIME
Sullivan entered the NFL in 1992 with San Diego.
Robinson’s is the 12th 1,000-yard season on Sullivan’s resume. The others were with San Diego — Anthony Miller (1992-93) and Tony Martin (1995-96); Detroit – Herman Moore (1997), Johnnie Morton (1997-99) and Germane Crowell (1999), and Arizona – David Boston (2001) and Anquan Boldin (2003).
Robinson is the second player under Sullivan to have a double-digit touchdown season; Martin had 14 in 1996.
Sullivan, who plays video clips of his old receivers to teach his current receivers, was asked for comparisons.
On Robinson: “He has some Tony Martin qualities and he has some Herman Moore qualities because Herman was a jump-ball guy. As a route runner, A-Rob has really accelerated himself and taken a big step. He can see it and feel it. He has a real style to how he runs his routes.”
On Hurns: “He’s a lot like Anquan Boldin and [former 49er] Arnaz Battle. He can do lots of things. He’s a tough kid. He has become an adept route runner, and he’s worked hard as a hand-catcher. He’s not a ‘pretty’ kind of fast, but he’s very efficient and plays fast. And he’s also like Anquan in that he’s a technician and works hard on his craft.”
On Lee: “He’s a lot like a young Tony Martin — great speed, not always under control, but very fast and very smooth. Marqise is learning how to be smooth and under control.”
On Greene: “He’s a little unique. He has a real ability because he can accelerate so fast. He can go 0-60 almost instantly. He’s evolving as a route runner.”
As a young coach, Sorrentino is soaking up Sullivan’s knowledge during every meeting, and he said the receivers are the same way.
“The room is awesome,” Sorrentino said. “The guys are smart, they want to be coached, they listen and they love football. It’s, ‘Show it, visualize it, emphasize it, practice it, teach it.’ And then they get it done.”
The Jaguars expect the receivers to continue getting it done. And Sullivan will be dispensing knowledge the entire way.
“One of my mottos is, ‘The better you are, the better you have to be,’ ” he said. “They have to make sure the bright lights don’t blind them. They have the work ethic that it takes to play in this league, but I try to give them some food for thought to stay at that high level.”

Jó látni, hogy olyanokat is meghívtak, mint Isaac "Don't call me Ivan" Smolko (😊 ) , Big Rich Collier( ő az, akinek amputálni kellett 2008ban a lábát, mert megtámadták), Quinn Gray(aki a 11-5ös, 2007es szezonban 4 meccsen volt kezdő QB, és kettőt meg is nyert, a Saints ellen vereség idején meg dobott 4 TDt ) és persze Jiimmy Smith(csak ne adjon életvezetési tanácsokat a mostani WReinknek).
Ja és remélem Chris Luzar meghívása nem vetíti előre a végeredményt vasárnap...
