A meccs alapján inkább a trójait (Williams) látnám szívesebben nálunk.

Ryan Halloren teljes körűen elemez MINDEN posztot 2015el kapcsolatban. Jó olvasást hozzá!

Looking to the future: As 2014 season ends, what will 2015 Jaguars look like?

Year One of the Dave Caldwell/Gus Bradley Era was about survival — patching together a roster to make it through 16 games.
Year Two was about discovery — forming opinions on which players they want to move forward with.

Year Three will be about winning — and that starts by capturing the figurative March Championship.

The Jaguars have saved their salary cap space and moved on from most of the previous regime’s players and draft picks. And now it’s Go Time on this floor-to-ceiling build.

Since he was hired from Atlanta’s front office in January 2013, Caldwell has pinpointed March 2015 — the third offseason of this rebuild— as the Jaguars’ aggressive foray into free agency.

The Jaguars (3-12) wrap up their fourth consecutive year of at least 10 losses Sunday at Houston and then the real work begins, the focus on unrestricted free agency, which begins March 10.

Some names that could be on the radar are Denver tight end Julius Thomas, New England safety Devin McCourty and Green Bay receiver Randall Cobb … if they hit the open market. And that’s the rub — the salary cap could reach $145 million, allowing teams to re-sign more of their own players.

According to salary cap expert and former player agent Joel Corry, the Jaguars are projected to have nearly $62 million, including their current rollover total of $21.9 million, of available space.

The Jaguars hnder contract for 2015 are only 17 players with a cap number of more than $1 million.ave about $47.3 million committed to the offense and $43 million to the defense.

But before then, the Jaguars will have completed a sum-of-the-parts analysis of their current roster, and really, that’s already started.

QUARTERBACK

Player 2015 age 2015 cap number

Blake Bortles 23 $4,694,275

Chad Henne 30 $3,500,000

Stephen Morris 23 $511,666

Free agents: None.

Analysis: The Jaguars’ decision to draft Bortles third overall instead of waiting for 2015 to find their quarterback could turn out to be one of Caldwell’s best decisions – the Jaguars may not have been in position to pick Marcus Mariota/Jameis Winston and they might not have been enamored with either of them. … Bortles (3-9 as the starter) will have an entire offseason to review his 13 1/2 games of video, giving him a leg up had he sat all or most of 2014. … Most encouraging about Bortles’ year has been his athleticism (358 rushing yards) and his cut-down on interceptions — only five in the last seven games. He has completed 60.2 percent of his passes, which is better than fellow rookies Zach Mettenberger (59.8) and Derek Carr (58.6) and just behind Matthew Stafford (61.1) and Colin Kaepernick (60.6). … Henne will enter the final season of his second two-year contract with the Jaguars and is the ideal back-up.

RUNNING BACK

Player 2015 age 2015 cap number

Toby Gerhart 28 $3,000,000

Bradie Ewing 25 $660,000

Denard Robinson 24 $638,403

Storm Johnson 23 $660,000

Free agents: FB Will Ta’ufo’ou (restricted), RB Jordan Todman (restricted).

Analysis: Wanted is a bell-cow to ignite a running game which has finished 23rd (entering Sunday), 31st and 30th the last three years. … Jaguars running backs have only 17 explosive runs (at least 12 yards) in 286 attempts this season, a rate of 5.9 percent. … Gerhart was given a chance to be the starter, but was limited by an ankle injury (he sat out two games). He has averaged only 3.3 yards per carry and lost his starting job for an eight-game stretch to Robinson. But Gerhart does have value as a third-down factor (he can pass protect and be effective in the screen game) and fill-in back on early downs. … Robinson showed flashes before a foot sprain ended his season, posting 100-plus yards in back-to-back games (Cleveland, Miami). But was that his ceiling? If so, will he a No. 3 back behind The Back To Be Determined and Gerhart? That will be an interesting training camp sub-plot. … Johnson (29 carries for 86 yards) did nothing to distinguish himself and was a healthy scratch for six consecutive weeks. It will be hard for him to make next year’s roster. … The Jaguars still value a fullback so it would make sense to re-sign Ta’ufo’ou (218 snaps). … Todman has been a consistent kick returner, but is that enough for him to make the team? … It makes no sense wading into free agency again to address this position – wait for the draft, but not too long (second or third round). Would the Jaguars be bold enough to draft Georgia’s Todd Gurley in the second round knowing his knee injury will keep him out until mid-season? Maybe.

TIGHT ENDS

Player 2015 age 2015 cap number

Marcedes Lewis 31 $8,250,000

Clay Harbor 28 $1,500,000

Nic Jacobs 23 $510,000

Free agents: Fendi Onobun (unrestricted).

Analysis: It would be surprising if Lewis is back for a 10th season. He missed 13 games the last two years. … Harbor has 26 catches and was the starter for seven games when Lewis was hurt. He’s more receiver than blocker. … This position is perhaps the greatest offensive need and Denver’s Thomas makes a ton of sense. A young quarterback’s best friend is a tight end who can get open.

RECEIVERS

Player 2015 age 2015 cap number

Justin Blackmon 25 $5,785,625*

Marqise Lee 23 $1,175,914

Tandon Doss 25 $802,500

Allen Robinson 22 $797,925

Ace Sanders 23 $705,362

Allen Hurns 23 $511,666

Damian Copeland 24 $511,666

*Currently suspended by NFL.

Free agents: Cecil Shorts (unrestricted), Tommy Streeter (restricted).

Analysis: The kids are all right — Robinson (48 catches) and Lee (35 catches) are second-round keepers and Hurns (49 catches, six TDs) was a big-time pleasant surprise as an undrafted player. Those three are locks. … Doss’ high ankle sprain in a training camp practice ended his season, but if healthy, he may compete with Sanders for one spot — backup receiver and punt returner. … Sanders has been totally removed from the mix this year — 49 snaps and five catches in 11 games. … Shorts’ return is unlikely — he simply didn’t do enough (one TD) to earn a second contract. … And now about Blackmon. He hasn’t played since Oct. 27, 2013, and if he’s eligible when training camp starts in late July (a big if), he will have played only four games in the last 22 months. Players who miss that much time rarely rediscover a consistent form. The Jaguars have spent nearly two years establishing a culture based on “telling the truth” and “no repeats” — Blackmon has been the opposite of those tenets. … If the Jaguars move on from Blackmon, they can move toward Green Bay’s Cobb (13.9 ypc). The Jaguars need a No. 1 receiver — their group this year has only 38 explosive catches (at least 16 yards) among their 192 receptions.

OFFENSIVE LINE

Player 2015 age 2015 cap number

Luke Joeckel (T) 23 $5,782,254

Zane Beadles (G) 28 $5,000,000

Sam Young (T) 28 $795,000

Brandon Linder (G) 23 $655,400

Luke Bowanko (C ) 24 $533,513

Tyler Shatley (G) 24 $511,666

Josh Wells (T) 24 $510,000

Free agents: C/G Jacques McClendon (exclusive rights), T Austin Pasztor (exclusive rights).

Analysis: All signs point to the Jaguars being committed to having Joeckel (left tackle), Beadles (left guard), Bowanko (center) and Linder (right guard) locked into 2015 starting assignments. Bowanko and especially Linder were pleasant surprises as rookies. … Right tackle and overall depth remain the issue. … Pasztor has had three surgeries in the last year (shoulder, hand, groin) and the Jaguars will likely sign a player to challenge him in training camp. … Don’t look for a current starting right tackle to be signed, though. Green Bay’s Bryan Bulaga and Dallas’ Doug Free top the list and their teams know their value. … Shatley has been a healthy scratch 14 times and Wells is a development tackle. Both will be in camp to reclaim roster spots. … The bottom line for this group is they’ll have the opportunity to show this year was a one-time deal. Although not all the offensive line’s fault, the Jaguars have allowed an NFL-high 66 sacks and only 26 explosive rushes in 346 attempts.

DEFENSIVE LINE

Player 2015 age 2015 cap number

Chris Clemons (DE) 33 $4,500,000

Red Bryant (DE) 31 $4,250,000

Sen’Derrick Marks (DT) 28 $4,225,000

Roy Miller (DT) 28 $4,500,000

Ziggy Hood (DT) 28 $3,975,000

Andre Branch (DE) 26 $1,619,525

Abry Jones (DT) 23 $585,834

Chris Smith (DE) 23 $510,000

Free agents: DE/DT Tyson Alualu (unrestricted), DE/DT Ryan Davis (exclusive rights).

Analysis: In the last 52 weeks, the Jaguars have prioritized this position, extending Marks (December 2014), signing Bryant, Clemons and Hood during a five-day span in March and extending Miller two weeks ago. And it paid off in the pass-rushing department — the Jaguars have 42 sacks (fifth in the league) as of Sunday, 35 by defensive linemen. Yet they rank 27th against the rush (4.4 per carry, up from 4.2 last year). … This group could return intact if Alualu re-signs and he said he wants to return. … The depth chart would be Bryant/Alualu at the “big” end, Clemons/Branch at the Leo, Marks/Hood at DT and Miller/Jones at the other DT, plus Davis/Smith as rotation guys. … If Alualu departs, it would create a need to draft a “big” end to work behind Bryant. … A wild card could be what to do with Bryant — that’s a lot of money for an early-down guy who isn't a factor rushing the passer. … The position will come into focus on draft night. Do the Jaguars feel like Nebraska’s Randy Gregory or USC’s Leonard Williams are worth a top-five pick? If so, that will shuffle the depth chart. … The Jaguars need to keep an eye on 2016 and beyond. Eventual replacements for Bryant and Clemons need to be found and developed.

LINEBACKER

Player 2015 age 2015 cap number

Paul Posluszny (MLB) 30 $9,300,000

LaRoy Reynolds (OLB) 24 $585,384

John Lotulelei (OLB) 23 $585,000

Telvin Smith (OLB) 24 $562,763

Khairi Fortt (OLB) 23 $510,000

Jeremiah George (MLB) 23 $510,000

A.J. Edds (LB) 27 $585,000

Free agents: OLB Geno Hayes (unrestricted), OLB/MLB J.T. Thomas (unrestricted).

Analysis: The one sure thing entering 2015 is Smith, the rookie fifth-round pick from FSU who has 83 tackles, one interception and two fumble recoveries. He took over the Will spot during the second half of the season and will stick there. … But then things get interesting. Posluszny had surgery in late October to repair a torn chest muscle. He could be a candidate to have his contract extended in exchange for a smaller cap number (teams under the cap like the Jaguars can’t ask players to take a pay cut). …If Posluszny and Smith are back, there’s still a gaping hole at the Otto spot, which debuted in the spring and saw four players start at least one game there. The Jaguars might have targeted Seattle’s K.J. Wright but he agreed to a new deal last week. The free agent market is full of veterans who are 3-4 backers. … That leaves Thomas (if re-signed) as a possible Otto candidate. He played the spot after the Jaguars gave up on Watson and Reynolds, but then moved inside to replace Posluszny. If the Jaguars draft a player for the Otto, Thomas may return as a backup and special teams player. … Also in the draft or with George, the Jaguars want to get a middle linebacker ready for a post-Posluszny world.

DEFENSIVE BACK

Player 2015 age 2015 cap number

Johnathan Cyprien (S) 25 $1,491,574

Will Blackmon (CB) 30 $945,000

Dwayne Gratz (CB) 25 $849,394

Aaron Colvin (CB) 23 $623,288

Josh Evans (S) 24 $617,205

Demetrius McCray (CB) 24 $601,741

Jeremy Harris (CB ) 24 $527,225

Rashaad Reynolds (CB) 24 $511,666

Craig Loston (S) 25 $510,000

Free agents: CB Alan Ball (unrestricted), S Sherrod Martin (unrestricted), CB Teddy Williams (restricted), CB Tommie Campbell (unrestricted), S Matt Daniels (restricted).

Analysis: The training wheels come off this group next year when Cyprien, Gratz, McCray and Evans enter their third seasons and Colvin his second. They need a veteran free safety to bring the group together. … Cyprien has 100 tackles but no takeaways. The best place for him to play is near the line of scrimmage in run pursuit or providing coverage on a tight end. … The best guess on the cornerback set-up would be Colvin and McCray in the “base” package, and in nickel, Gratz plays outside and Colvin moves inside. … Gratz has one more year to figure things out. … The coaches want to get a better look at Reynolds, who sustained a broken hand in the preseason. … There is a place on the roster for Evans, but perhaps primarily as a special teams core player. This is where the Jaguars needed a sideline-to-sideline player who is a ball-hawk and allows the coaches to put Cyprien at the line of scrimmage and keep him there. … The Jaguars have five interceptions (second-fewest in the league) this year.

SPECIALISTS

Player 2015 age 2015 cap number

Josh Scobee 💋‍ 33 $4,187,500

Bryan Anger (P) 26 $875,480

Carson Tinker (LS) 25 $585,834

Free agents: None.

Analysis: As of now, Scobee has the highest 2015 cap number for a kicker. He is 19-of-24 on field goals this year and has been good on kickoffs, 46 touchbacks in 89 kickoffs (75 reached the end zone). If this was a team strapped for cap space, Scobee might be asked to take a cut or they would go young at the spot. For now, though, maybe they sign training camp competition instead of a training camp leg. … Anger and Tinker have provided no evidence of needing to be replaced. …Todman has been a consistent kick returner (25.4-yard average, long of 40), but Sanders’ 6.8-yard average on punt returns isn’t good enough.

*Salary cap figures are based on research and Spotrac.com. The 2015 age for each player is on Sept. 1, 2015.
Epic Facepalm.

 espn.go.com/blog/jacksonville-jaguars/post/_/id/10550/could-sunday-be-cecil-shorts-last-game-with-jaguars

Maka
Kicsit kevered a szezonjainkat. Tavaly Caldwell 1.
Én mondjuk ezért próbálkoznék be a Tampánál Vincent Jacksonért.

Alualu szeretne jövőre is itt játszani:
He’s played for three full-time head coaches. He’s started seasons at defensive end and defensive tackle. He’s played nearly 1,000 snaps in a year and less than 500 in another. And he’s returned a kickoff.

Jaguars defensive lineman Tyson Alualu has seen and done a lot in the five years since he was drafted 10th overall and despite the team’s 21-58 record during his career, he wants back in for 2015 and beyond.

“I’m excited about the future,” Alualu said earlier this week. “And of course, I want it to be here, but we’ll have to wait and see.”

Alualu, who will be 28 when training camp opens in July, is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent for the first time and Sunday’s game at Houston could be his last for the Jaguars.

Alualu’s five-year rookie contract was worth $21.9 million and while he won’t get that from the Jaguars or another team, he should have a market for two reasons: durability and versatility.

Despite a knee problem that plagued him early in his career, Alualu has never missed a game (79-for-79). And he has experience playing inside (2010-12), outside (2013) and both (this year).

This year, Alualu has 26 tackles and one sack and didn’t appear on the injury report once in 16 weeks.

“Health-wise and playing-wise, probably my best year overall,” he said.

When the Jaguars signed veteran Red Bryant last March, it ended Alualu’s days as a starter. At the time, the perception was that Alualu would be allowed to play out his contract and walk in free agency. The reality is that he embraced the situation.

“Really, I thought it would be a great opportunity for me,” he said. “I’d watched how Red plays the position [in the Jaguars’ system] and him being here has definitely helped elevate my game.”

Bryant, who declined comment for this story, has played 473 of 1,309 snaps (47.3 percent) and has 19 tackles and one sack. Alualu has played 418 snaps (40.2 percent).

Compare Alualu’s playing time now to 2012 (823 of 1,110 snaps — 74.8 percent) and 2013 (742 of 1,120 — 66.3 percent).

“[The rotation] has helped me just be fresh during the game,” he said. “I’m so happy with the group we have. I wish it didn’t change because as good as this group is, I still think there is room for greater improvement in years to come.”

And the potential for team-wide improvement is also why Alualu wants to play things through with the Jaguars.

“We’re going through some tough times, but I want to be here to help turn this organization around to where we’ll be respected in the league,” he said. “I know this team is headed that way and I want to be a part of it.”

Teljes értékűen edzett Bortles, Bowanko, Streeter, Clemons... és Andre Branch! Windmill tehát visszatérhet vasárnap!

Abry Jones úgy készül hogy megint ő kezd DTben:
 www.jaguars.com/media-gallery/videos/Jones-Stepping-up-and-filling-in/087cf568-d689-48d9-9dea-1edaa63a35ab

“I guess it’s not going off performance no more. “I guess it’s going off names or your team. I didn’t think that that’s what it was supposed to be about.”
Gus úgy tekint Sen'Derrickre, hogy idén ő Pro Bowlt érően játszott egész évben:
 www.jaguars.com/media-gallery/videos/Bradley-Observe-daily-evaluate-weekly/a9f62bf8-511a-40c9-9996-dd6c09885691

Szóval a fejlődés itt látható.

Fisch beszélt Shortsról is.

Brian Sexton a D-line idei szezonjára fókuszált:

A Fred Taylor szindróma itt is erősen tetten érthető...

Tennessee blitzed QB Blake Bortles on 12 of his 35 drop-backs (34.3 percent). Against the extra rusher, Bortles was 4-of-8 for 37 yards, one scramble and two sacks.

The Jaguars blitzed Titans QB Charlie Whitehurst only four times in 40 drop-backs (10 percent). He was 3-of-4 passing for 37 yards against the blitz.
A 4 benyelt sack lebontása Hallorentől
The Titans’ four sacks of Bortles. 1. Second-and-6, Jaguars 42. Five-man rush vs. six-man protection. Morgan rushed unblocked after RT Sam Young blocked down and drilled Bortles in 1.90 seconds. 2. Third-and-10, Jaguars 22. Five-man rush vs. seven-man protection. A zone pressure that saw the Titans blitz CB Marqueston Huff and Griffin. Huff was unblocked and forced Bortles to scramble just shy of the line of scrimmage (4.19 seconds). 3. Second-and-7, Jaguars 12. Four-man rush vs. five-man protection. LB Wesley Woodyard blitzed unblocked off the Jaguars’ left edge and sacked Bortles in 1.94 seconds. 4. Third-and-10, Jaguars 20. Four-man rush vs. five-man protection. Morgan used his hands to get past Young for the sack in 2.31 seconds.

* On the Titans’ third sack, Bortles made a great decision to hang on to the football. On the play, Bortles was looking for Hurns on a quick slant, but he pump-faked when he saw DT Sammie Hill drop into coverage.

None of Bortles’ 26 passes traveled more than 15 yards downfield. The breakdown — at/behind the line of scrimmage (five), 1-5 yards downfield (seven), 6-10 yards (eight) and 11-15 yards (six). On the passes that traveled 11-15 yards downfield, Bortles was 3 of 6 for 67 yards.

-The Jaguars are the first team in NFL history to have two rookie receivers catch 48-or-more passes. Allen Robinson, on injured reserve since Nov. 17, has 48 receptions for 548 yards despite missing the last five games. Allen Hurns has 49 catches for 662 yards and six touchdowns. A third rookie, Marqise Lee, has 35 catches for 414 yards. Lee has caught at least four passes in the last four games. The trio will have a combined salary-cap hit of roughly $2.5 million in 2015, giving general manager Dave Caldwell amazing flexibility to build the roster.
Úgy tűnik Poz szerelései Cyphez vándoroltak.
-Strong safety Johnathan Cyprien recorded four tackles against the Titans, giving him 103 on the season. Cyprien ranks 15th in the NFL and third among safeties, despite missing six quarters with a concussion early in the season.
Emiatt is érdemes bizalkodni:
-Not only are the Jaguars starting a rookie at quarterback, but their leading receiver is a rookie, their leading rusher (Denard Robinson) is in his second year and their leading tackler is in his second year.
-Rookie linebacker Telvin Smith had a game-high 15 tackles, continuing to prove he can handle an every-down role. Another rookie, cornerback Aaron Colvin, made seven tackles. One was a hard and legal hit on Titans quarterback Charlie Whitehurst. Colvin also batted down a pass while blitzing.
Az 1. évük alapján idén elég ütős kis draftclasst(+ Hurnst) hozott össze Caldwell. Jó lenne jövőre ezt megismételni.
