Arnette has put some work in. Definitely got the message. Hayward is going to be tough to keep off the field though.
Henry Ruggs III said he gained about 13 pounds this offseason. He made it a goal to get stronger in order to become a more physical player, both in the passing and running game.

This training camp, Ferrell might have a hard time winning a lot of playing time, let alone a starting role. There are pass rushers Yannick Ngakoue and Maxx Crosby on the outside, and if the Raiders want a stronger run-defense presence, they might go with newcomer Solomon Thomas on one of the ends. (Yes, for all the talk of Thomas playing inside at three-technique, the Raiders are starting to think he may be too small for that role after all.)
After beefing up last year, the 6-foot-4 Ferrell is down from 275 pounds to 268 this summer.

Ahogy sejthető volt Crosby és Yannick sok PT-t fog elvinni DE poszton és ott van még Koonce és Carl is ugyebár! Az mondjuk nekem nem tetszik igazán, hogy Solomon Thomas kapcsán lehet visszatáncolnak a full time 3T szerepről, de meglátjuk abból is mi lesz, ha megy futás ellen a szélre az se kedvez Ferrellnek. Isaiah Johnson
Isaiah Johnson is starting training camp on the PUP list, among others. But unlike the others (Divine Deablo, for example), Johnson isn’t a draft pick of the current defensive regime. So Defensive Coordinator Gus Bradley and secondary coach Ron Milus don’t have any ties to Johnson. If he is unable to showcase what he has in camp, he could be an early cut candidate, especially since the defensive backs group is so deep and limited in spots.

The Raiders will likely carry four outside corners and two slot corners. Isaiah Johnson is considered an outside corner, so he is really competing for the final, of the four outside corner spots, as most would agree with Trayvon Mullen, Damon Arnette, and all-pro Casey Hayward having the top three spots locked in. Johnson is competing with six others for the final spot on the depth chart, (Keisean Nixon, Rasul Douglas, De’Vante Bausby, Shaun Crawford, Keisean Nixon, and Blidi Wreh-Wilson), unless the Raiders decide to carry seven corners, which is highly unlikely.

Jalen Richard
Jalen Richard has a ton going against him. First, the Raiders brought in versatile running back Kenyan Drake earlier this offseason to replace Richard on third downs. Drake is a good pass blocker, something Richard has always had going for him. Second, the NFL implemented strict Covid-19 protocols for unvaccinated players and personnel. And although we are speculating a little bit here, based on what Richard said on Twitter before making his account private, it doesn’t seem like he’s vaccinated.

“I’m fired up about the secondary, it should be a strength of our team,” Gruden said. “If it isn’t, it means we have made some real mistakes ... I’ll be really upset if it’s not worth the price of admission.”

Gruden said every player has reported to camp and at their desired weight.

Third-round pick, pass-rusher Malcolm Koonce, has made an “impression” on the coaching staff, Gruden said.

Gruden is excited about defensive tackle Darius Philon, who reported at 296 pounds. He hasn’t played in the NFL in three years, but he is someone to watch in camp.

The coach is also pumped about second-year wide receivers Henry Ruggs III and Bryan Edwards, and veterans Zay Jones and Keelan Doss. There should be some good competition at wide receiver where undrafted free agent Dillon Stoner is also in the mix to make the 53-man roster.

Közben megvan a kb egy hete visszavonuló Kirby Wilson utódja az RB coach pozícióban. A pótlását házon belül oldotta meg a csapat, az eddig is a futókkal dolgozó “offensive quality control coach” Tim Berbenich személyében.

Az lényegtelen, hogy hogy vannak leosztva a lapok, itt a GM munkát ítélték meg. Az hogy most ez Gruden vagy Mayock, szerintem a lényegen nem változtat. A munka jelenleg az egyik leggyengébb most az NFL-ben a csapongások miatt...

Reméljük az eredményességben nem ez fog mutatkozni.

Mayock megítélése azért brutál nehéz szerintem, mert nem tudjuk mennyire van neki végső szava bármiben is...lehet remek scouting munkát folytat, remekül látja a dolgokat csak végül mindig Gruden dönt és emiatt nincs folytonosság, emiatt van ez a csapongás...

Én mondjuk vagy 5 GM munkát minimum rosszabbnak tartok. De ami nem tetszik, az ugyanaz, csak mást vonok le belõle.

Egyébként ha a Bolc Hörblivel beindul, nagyon nehéz lesz komolyan elõrelépni a Raiders Broncos tengelynek. (Lehet önbizalommal teli egy fiatal csapat, ha jönnek az eredmények. Lehet csoportelsõ. De jó ha az addigi nagykutya kicsit kiöregszik, vagy botlik. Két nagykutya mellett nagyon nehéz felépíteni bármit.)

Nyilván nagyon nehéz megítélni így egy GM munkáját, mert ha teszem azt, idén bejutunk a PO-ba, akkor azért biztos nem a 26. helyen lenne, de egyelőre így nekem is nagyon bizonytalan, hogy van e előrelépés a csapatépítésben.

QB maradt, futók maradt, elkapók összességében romlott, fal romlott.
A védelem összességében javult, de nem is az emberanyag miatt, hanem az edző személye miatt, de ez is egyelőre csak várakozás.

Ha ebből majd a szezon során biztossá válik az hogy javult a védelmünk és az hogy a fal nem romlott, csak fiatalabb lett (, ahogy nyilatkozott Mayock a minap), akkor az ő megítélése is javulni fog.

Hogy ez az igazság és azért fáj, vagy csak mert h laza nyári nem befeszülős a stílus, az konkrétan pár hónap múlva kiderül.
Addig csak vélemények, de akkorra már 6 év —esetlegesen—elvesztegetve.
Kevés nálunk /Giants/ szarabb csapat van az elmúlt 5 évet tekintve, konkrétan ligautolsók vagyunk/vagy ucsó előttiek/
De nem érzem hogy cserélnék most ezzel a szisztematikusan 5 éve tudatosan épített csapattal.
