RB poszton most legalább tényleg harcolni kell majd a helyekért - Yeldon, Denard, Storm, Gerhart, Pierce - szerintem ebből 1 minimum el lesz majd küldve kerethirdetésig.

Ugyanez igaz a belső támadófalember posztra is, sőt itt talán még jobban. Itt tényleg Beadlesnek és a kezdő Cnek is meg kell küzdenie a helyéért TCben és az előszezonban, és Linder sem ülhet a babérjain. Bár Cann elsősorban LG, tehát Beadlesre veszélyes. Szerintem Rashad Greene a fő esélyes 4/4re, de egy ilyen kijenetés után Jarrett és Michael Bennett is kezdhet reménykedni. VAGY eljátsszuk azt, mint tavaly Colvinnal és elvisszük Ifo Ekpre-Olomut és megvan a S pickünk!

Hours after the Jaguars drafted Fowler to be their pass-rushing defensive end of the present and future, we went to the videotape to find out.

The knee-jerk opinion: Fowler played all over at Florida, but he should be cemented at the Leo spot as soon as rookie minicamp starts next weekend.


“That’s going to be important,” Jaguars defensive line coach Todd Wash said. “We’ll lock him into one position and let him thrive from there.”

What impressed the Jaguars was Fowler’s ability to beat right and left tackles.

Statistics provided by Pro Football Focus credited Fowler with 51 pressures on 311 pass-rush snaps, ahead of Vic Beasley (40 on 259) and Shane Ray (47 on 399).

FIRST PICK: Dante Fowler goes to Jaguars

But Fowler had 29 left-side pressures and 19 right-side pressures. By comparison, all but two of Beasley’s pressures came from the right side and all but three of Ray’s pressures came from the right side.

We reviewed five games from Fowler’s junior year: home games against Kentucky and LSU, road games against Alabama and Florida State and the bowl game against East Carolina.

■ Fowler certainly is versatile. On the video clip files provided, he played 264 snaps. Divided by position, he played 97 at outside linebacker, 72 at right end, 66 at left end, 28 at inside linebacker and one at defensive tackle.

■ We charted 50 factor plays (one every 6.3 snaps) for Fowler. A factor play is determined to be any tackle or quarterback pressure/hit. His game-by-game factor totals — Kentucky 6-of-52, Alabama 9-of-40, LSU 10-of-62, Florida State 11-of-54 and East Carolina 14-of-56.

■ Nearly all of his snaps at outside linebacker were in on-the-ball situations, when Florida went to two or three down lineman.

■ When he lined up at inside linebacker, it was generally as an A-gap blitzer when he would move around searching for the right matchup, be it against a guard or a running back. Don’t rule out the Jaguars dabbling with this.

■ Exhibit A of Fowler’s motor came at Alabama. Lined up at left end, Fowler disengaged from the tight end, recovered a fumble, lost the fumble, ran down field to recover the fumble and had a short return. Time of play: 10.78 seconds.

■ Exhibit B of Fowler’s motor came at Florida State: Blitzing from inside linebacker, he was initially stopped by center Cam Erving but used a spin move, missed Jameis Winston, fell to the turf, got up and posted the sack in 7.19 seconds.

“Not that the other Leos don’t [have high effort], but his really popped out,” Wash said.

■ Fowler played plenty of strong-side end, which he probably won’t — and shouldn’t — do with the Jaguars. That position is manned by Jared Odrick and Tyson Alualu.

■ In the five games, Fowler posted sacks against Kentucky (from inside linebacker when he blew up the running back trying to block), LSU (from left end on a clean-up in 5.03 seconds), the aforementioned Florida State sack and three against East Carolina — bull-rushed the left tackle in 2.84 seconds, coverage sack and a delayed blitzed in 3.31 seconds.

■ Fowler’s athleticism showed when offensive tackles would try to cut-block him, and he would simply use his agility to jump/shift out of the way and continue his pursuit of the quarterback.

■ Fowler played one snap at defensive tackle — against Florida State and he drew a holding penalty on Irving. He drew another holding penalty later in the game against a Seminoles running back.

■ Fowler had a tough go of it against LSU left tackle La’El Collins. Maybe as a result, Fowler played 21 snaps at left end, most of the five-game sample size.

■ Dropping into coverage from his outside linebacker spot, it was exclusively in zone. And aside from the occasional play-calling curveball, the Jaguars didn’t draft him to do that.

■ And now for a couple of nit-picks. Fowler didn’t show an array of pass-rushing moves. He didn’t use a spin move at all and didn’t make much of an impact on a bull rush. His primary move was to try and use his speed to get around the corner.

“He can get the edge with his first step, and he flashes some hand moves,” Wash said. “But I think with everybody in the draft, there are things we’ve got to continue to develop with him.”

■ Fowler missed some tackles and sack opportunities that would have made his statistics look even gaudier.

Tippre 4/4re Rashad Greene (aki vizitáltz is nálunk) és Grady Jarett (akit vittem volna 2/4re is..) lehet a pickünk, mind a kettő BPA közeli a big boardokon is, ha már ennyire BPAzunk.

Igen, ez nagy előny, hogy a 2 guardunk nem ülhet a babérjaikon, mert lesz mögött valaki, aki kiszoríthatja őket. Plusz ha valamelyik lesérül, nem kell McClendont berakni (aki már szerencsére nincs is itt) vészmegoldásként.

Érdekes, hogy nálunk, a Falconsnál (a hírek szerint Quinn fel akart tradelni velünk hogy megszerezze egykori játékosát, a Redskinsnél és a Seahawksnál (lásd Pete Caroll smse Bradleynek) is Fowler volt big board legtetején!

Something interesting that struck me this morning was the fact that the Jaguars viewed Fowler as the best player at his position, the Falcons wanted to trade up for Fowler and Washington reportedly was planning to draft him No. 5 overall if he fell to them.

"We had a lot of discussions as well [about the No. 3 pick] and we talked early about the potential of moving up there. There were probably two or three players, that I won't necessarily get into right now, that were worthy of thinking about moving up to three. Compensation was big," Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff told 680 The Fan in Atlanta on Friday morning.

"Dave was bullish on the guy he took, he knew that we were focused on that guy as well," Dimitroff continued.

A cikkben a varjú arra is kitér, hogy noha sokan OTTOként tekintettek Fowlerre, Bradleyék mindenképp LEOként akarják használni.

Nos így megszondázva a forrásokat, egyéb írásokat én RB draftra készülök 2/4en. Caldwell kijelentette, hogy idén sok 12es (1 RB, 2 TE) formációt fogunk használni, és így kevesebb lehetősége lesz majd a WReknek, és emiatt nem hiszem, hogy WRt vinnénk a 2. körben. Ha ez igaz, akkor én a TE draftot sem zárom ki a 3. körben (Clive Walford a Miamiból jöhet talán?)

Ha tippelnem kéne, szerintem ma a Yeldon - Lockett duóval zárjuk a napot, utóbbiért talán esetleg fel is tradelhetünk. Slot WR ugyanis kell, és Lockett erre az egyik legalkalmasabb wideout az egész drafton.

Mondjuk egy kisebb letrade is benne van a pakliban a 2. köre elején, sok olyan játékos van, akiért érdemes feljönni(A 2 Collins, Gregory, Kendricks, vagy valamelyik WR a DGB-Strong duóból, netán valakinek teljesen elmentek otthonról, akkor a QB draft sem kizárt).

Én Eric Kendrickst vinném 2/4en, de nagyon úgy tűnik, hogy ma a támadókon lesz a hangsúly nálunk.
Yeldon vagy Duke Johnson szerintem a legesélyesebb arra, hogy itt kössön ki (Abdullah és Ajayi a wild cardok) a 2. körben.

A 3. körben pedig Lockett, Rashad Greene és esetleg a Georgia Teches DeAndre Smelter (bár ő akkora reach lenne a 3. körben, mint Yeldon lesz/lenne a 2.ban) vagy ha TEt akarunk akkor Walford jöhet szóba. TE azért kell, mert Marcedes nem hiszem, hogy maradna jövőre is, plusz a sérülésekre is gondolni kell.
