Hát az valóban kibaszottul túlzó.
Fowler szerintem nem a legjobb opció volt ott, Yeldonnál is jóval jobb RB-k voltak még benn, Cann-re nem igazán volt szükség, Bennett nem véletlenül csúszott addig. Nekem Greene a kedvenc pickem, ő akár a legjobb WR-etek is lehet hamarosan.Bazzani

Azzal vitatkoznék, hogy Cannre nincs szükség, vele van egy MINŐSÉGI guard cserénk most. Bennett 6. körben szerintem szép steal, és cserének ideális. A Yeldon-Fowler duóban egyetértünk.

Hallorennek igazat adok, 3 év után végre élesben fog menni sok poszton az, amit eddig Bradleyék akartak: hogy szinte minden poszton komoly harcok legyenek a kezdőhelyért.

Company is coming to town and this year’s original 53-man roster will have equal parts a new look (in the form of new players) and new mechanics (starters will become back-ups).

For the first two years of the Dave Caldwell-Gus Bradley Era, guessing the Week 1 starting lineup — and most of the roster — after the draft ended was an easy task. The roster had little depth, meaning high draft picks started immediately and locked into the roster were all picks and most every unrestricted free agent addition.

Not anymore.

Who knows if it will develop into a better product (both record-wise and entertainment-wise) this year, but the Jaguars’ goal of creating competition — and not letting players get too comfortable — has been successful.

“The guys who have been here for a year or two will say it [will be] different,” Caldwell said after the Jaguars completed their eight-person draft Saturday night. “They will be pushed.”

Pushed out of the starting lineup — Chris Clemons by first-round pick Dante Fowler at the Leo spot; Bowanko by Stefen Wisniewski at center and in one of the top training camp subplots; possibly Beadles by third-round pick A.J. Cann at left guard.

Pushed out of a regular role — Branch is now the third-string Leo and Gerhart could become a third-down back.

Or pushed off the roster — Sanders/Doss are long shots after the Jaguars drafted Rashad Greene in the fifth round (their best-value pick of the weekend). Smith is now fourth-team at Leo and Johnson a fifth-string tailback after the arrival of second-round pick-turned-starter T.J. Yeldon.

Before the draft, I counted 35 of the 72 players who should feel good about making the Week 1 roster. After the draft, I counted 41 of the 80 players. And there is always an undrafted free agent who emerges.

That is significant progress compared to a few years ago and it means Caldwell Era draft picks — undoubtedly Sanders and probably cornerback Jeremy Harris from the 2013 class and Smith/Johnson from 2014 and maybe this weekend’s seventh-round picks (receiver Neal Sterling and tight end Ben Koyack) — could be left off the roster in September.

The status quo — 4-12 in 2013 and 3-13 in 2014 — is unacceptable so the Jaguars signed seven free agents, claimed running back Bernard Pierce on waivers and have now added a draft class.

Giving up an NFL-high 71 sacks didn’t just mean adding right tackle Jermey Parnell, but signing Wisniewski and drafting Cann, an obvious sign new offensive line coach Doug Marrone wasn’t impressed by last year’s game tapes.

And having a Super Bowl ring and familiarity with Bradley meant nothing — just ask Red Bryant. He was cut as soon as the Jaguars signed Jared Odrick.

Compare that to last training camp when the biggest shake-up was the self-destruction of center Mike Brewster, who went from starter to waived in a six-week span. Even the casual observer would have connected on 19-20 of the starters.

On paper, the Jaguars may have upgraded at strong-side defensive end (Odrick for Bryant), Leo end (Fowler for Clemons), Otto linebacker (Dan Skuta for several guys), free safety (Sergio Brown or James Sample for Josh Evans), No. 1 cornerback (Davon House for Alan Ball), right tackle (Parnell for Austin Pasztor/Sam Young), running back (Yeldon for a committee) and punt returner (Greene for Sanders).

“If you look across the board, every position group was strengthened, either through free agency or the draft,” Bradley said. “Most teams can say they did that, but I just think there’s an overall feeling of competition in each meeting room and that’s always good.”

The Jaguars hope making players uncomfortable will also push them to a new level of performance … and success.

“We’re going to challenge these guys,” Bradley said. “That’s our mentality.”

Red Byrant (szegény nem értem miért van csapat nélkül még) volt az első fecske, de nem ő lesz az utolsó. Idén keretszűkítéskor néhány jó játékost is el kell majd küldeni.

Caldwell elmondása alapján Greene lehet az új punt returner, könnyen lehet, hogy 5 TEt tartunk majd meg (Tippre: JT, Marcedes, Koyack, Sterling, ha TE lesz- és valószínű Nic Jacons - Harbor nem biztos, hogy sokáig itt lesz)

Ahogy Caldwell beszélt, úgy tűnik nekem, hogy a fowler- Yeldon duót néztük ki magunknak már a draft előtt is- igaz, úgy emlékszem valakikért fel akart menni az 1. kör végén Caldwell, de kivitték őket, így tárgytalanná vált a dolog). Azt is mondta, hogy így alakult, hogy ennyi viszonylag jegyzet suliból draftoltunk most embereket, ez nem egy trend, bár kétségtelen, nem rossza, ha olyan programokból hozunk játékoskat, akik viszonylag sok sikerélményt értek el college szinten (Mark Long - aki a Gatorsról és a Jagsről is tudósít az APnek egyből benyögte, hogy "régebben sikeresek voltak", erre Caldwell kicsit a védelmébe vette Muschampet, hogy biztos benne, hogy a keze alatt Fowler Pro readyvé érett).
AZ LBkkel kapcsolatban azt mondta 5 olyan prospect volt, akit a 3. körben vittük volna, ha még bent vannak, de már addigra mind kimentek(ezért kezdtünk el BPAzni Cannel). Reméli, hogy Jeremaih George és Khairi Fortt idén szintet lép. Azt mondta, hogy UDFAkkal meg esetleg majd waiverről próbál még TCre embereket hozni, 3 UDFA rookie LBt igazoltunk is.
Megerősítette, hogy idén azok számára is más (keményebb) lesz majd a TCs versengés, mint az elmúlt 1-2 évben.

Nekem már kifejezetten tetszik az idei Jax draft, és biztos vagyok benne, hogy érdemes lesz figyelni a csapatot, mert ez a fiatal támadósor sok mindenre lehet képes, ha Bortles hoz egy megbízható Top15 játékot.

The skinny: Team need? Check. Great player? Check. With the No. 3 overall pick, the Jaguars got a prolific edge rusher who can boost their defense and help chase down division rival Andrew Luck for years to come. You could argue the Jags should have taken Leonard Williams or that a trade down would have been a better move, but Fowler can have an impact early on for a team in need of playmakers. Taking Yeldon with the No. 36 pick was a bit of a reach, but he was a fast-rising prospect and is a complete back who is a great fit for a young Jacksonville offense. Cann should immediately fill a need protecting Bortles and opening holes for Yeldon on the interior of the line.

Bottom line: The young offensive core in Jacksonville got even better in this draft with a mix of good value picks and quality players on and off the field.

And then in the later rounds, Jacksonville came away with steals when Florida State wide receiver Rashad Greene and Ohio State defensive tackle Michael Bennett fell to them.

Caldwell szerint összességében nem zártunk rossz draftot, de még van bőven teendő. Annak örült, hogy a 3. napon elhozhatott pár olyan játékost, akire előzetesen nem számított volna.

Érdekes, hogy LBt végül nem vittünk. Mondjuk biztos, hogy ez a poszt prioritás lesz college free agancyben (UDFAk). Jelenleg 80 ember van a rosteren. 10 UDFA rookie jöhet, ha nem teszünk ki senkit.

Koyack az első olyan játékos, aki ott volt a Seniorbowlon (a másik csapatban...). És azt hiszem az első és egyetlen fehér pickünk.

Ha nem rakunk ki senkit, akkor azt hiszem most 80 játékosunk van a rosteren, tehát csak 10 UDFA rookie jön idén. Haladás. 😀😀
