Az FTU szerint ez a 10 ember a leginkább nélkülözhetetlen a Jaguars számára idén:The Jaguars are deeper in Year 3 of the Dave Caldwell-Gus Bradley era. But, who are the 10 most indispensable players on the team? Looking at talent as well as the depth behind them, we rank the most valuable players on the roster for the coming season. We also review last year’s top 10 and how they fared. Hárman(Marks, Julius, Cyp) a 10ből sérültek jelenleg...
1. QB Blake Bortles
Size: 6-5, 232
Age: 23
Experience: Second season
Why he’s here: For the Jaguars to exceed their modest expectations, Bortles has to deliver a productive season. The talent on offense around Bortles is more experienced and, more importantly, better. Still, if backup Chad Henne had to run the show for a long stretch it would be hard to see the Jaguars not losing at least 12 games. The playoffs are a longshot. The biggest thing the Jaguars can realistically take away from this season is that they have their quarterback for the next decade.
2. MLB Paul Posluszny
Size: 6-2, 242
Age: 30
Experience: Ninth season
Why he’s here: The depth behind him is nonexistent. The Jaguars lost Posluszny for the final nine games last season after he tore his pectoral muscle. J.T. Thomas stepped in and did a decent job, but then was allowed to leave in free agency and signed with the New York Giants. Posluszny has made 1,063 tackles in his career and is the leader of the defense. The communication would greatly suffer without him in the lineup.
3. TE Julius Thomas
Size: 6-5, 260
Age: 27
Experience: Fifth season
Why he’s here: He scores touchdowns, at least in Denver. Nothing that we’ve seen in training camp leads us to believe he won’t do it often with the Jaguars as well once he returns from a broken hand. Thomas caught 24 touchdowns over the last two seasons. He’s the team’s best overall talent and should be a matchu*****ue for every defense the Jaguars face. The reason he isn’t tops on this list is the depth behind him. Veterans Marcedes Lewis and Clay Harbor provide excellent insurance for the Jaguars.
4. WR Allen Robinson
Size: 6-3, 210
Age: 21
Experience: Second season
Why he’s here: This team already has one young receiver who can’t stay healthy for long in Marqise Lee. Robinson has to start at least 14 games this season for the Jaguars to reach their offensive potential. He missed the final six games last season with a foot injury but averaged 4.8 receptions a game in his 10 outings. He’s been by far the most dynamic receiver in camp and should be targeted 120 times. His presence also opened things up for No. 2 receiver Allen Hurns.
5. LT Luke Joeckel
Size: 6-6, 306
Age: 23
Experience: Third season
Why he’s here: He’s playing a premium position. If Bortles is to succeed in his second year, Joeckel needs to step up his game in his third. Joeckel made strides last season, lasting a full 16 games after breaking his ankle in Week 5 of his rookie campaign. He’s gained strength this offseason. The offense can make a huge leap forward if new offensive line coach Doug Marrone can mold Joeckel into an above average left tackle. The depth is also shaky behind him, led by second-year player Josh Wells.
6. SS Johnathan Cyprien
Size: 6-0, 217
Age: 25
Experience: Third season
Why he’s here: Do you really want Josh Evans or Craig Loston as your starting strong safety? It could happen in Week 1 after Cyprien broke his finger in the preseason opener. Cyprien’s lofty ranking has more to do with the depth behind him than his talent. He has recorded 209 tackles in his first two years in the league and does bring a physical presence no other safety on the roster can match. Maybe Year 3 will produce more game-changing plays as well for the former 33rd-overall pick in the draft. That’s what’s keeping Cyprien from becoming a star.
7. DT Sen’Derrick Marks
Size: 6-2, 294
Age: 28
Experience: Seventh season
Why he’s here: Marks is the team’s best defender, leading the team in sacks last season with 8.5. So why is he seventh? Because the Jaguars are used to not having him. The defense has been without Marks all offseason after he tore his ACL in the season finale. The hope is that he’ll be ready for the opener. Certainly, there is a drop-off when Marks isn’t out there, but the team wouldn’t be blindsided if he went down again like it might be with other standouts.
8. RG Brandon Linder
Size: 6-6, 311
Age: 23
Experience: Second season
Why he’s here: Linder is the team’s best lineman, and coaches labeled him the most consistent performer last season as a rookie. He’s been excellent in training camp. So why is he eighth? Because right guard is not a premium position. The Jaguars could also likely get by at right guard with A.J. Cann or Austin Pasztor if needed.
9. OLB Telvin Smith
Size: 6-3, 218
Age: 24
Experience: Second season
Why he’s here: He’s becoming the defense’s top playmaker while also holding up physically. Smith was credited with 99 tackles as a rookie, including 63 in the final six games of the season once his role expanded. Smith also has a knack for big plays, a rarity right now on the Jaguars’ defense. There also isn’t another linebacker on the roster with his skills.
10. CB Aaron Colvin
Size: 6-0, 186
Age: 23
Experience: Second season
Why he’s here: The ability to play on the perimeter in base and inside in nickel packages is rare. Colvin’s value, already high after his surprising rookie season, has spiked over the last two weeks in training camp. Chances are Colvin could be a big riser on this board next year.

Biztos nem játszik a Giants ellen:Marqise Lee, Peyton Thompson, James Sample, Brennan Williams, Julius Thomas, Neal Sterling, Sen' Derrick Marks, Chris Clemons & Johnathan Cyprien
Roy Miller és T.J. Yeldon játéka még kérdéses, előbbi game time döntés lesz, utóbbi státuszáról talán picit hamarabb lesz döntés.
Wisniewski fog kezdeni most centerben, és némi meglepetésre Josh Evans helyett Craig Loston lesz a kezdő SS!

Marks, Lee updates
Bradley updated the injury status of both defensive tackle Sen’Derrick Marks and receiver Marqise Lee on Wednesday.
Bradley described Marks’ recovery as “good.” The Jaguars are hopeful Marks can play in the opener after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in last season’s finale on Dec. 28. Marks’ 8.5 sacks led the Jaguars.
“He’s going to get tested just to see where his quad strength is,” Bradley said. “That’s a big reading for us to see where he’s at, but everything says that he’s right on schedule.”
Lee injured his hamstring two weeks ago. Bradley suggested for the first time Wednesday that the injury could take 6-8 weeks to recover from, before bringing that time table down to four weeks.
“Well, everything I hear, he’s making really good progress,” Bradley said. “Where you’re hoping for four weeks, could be 6-8 or somewhere in there. Everything now is back to where it’s four weeks to where it’s leaning more towards that. So, it’s a good sign.”

Alex Marvez Jaguars beharangozó cikke a TCn nálunk tapasztalt dolgok alapján.www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/blake-bortles-jacksonville-jaguars-hard-lessons-learned-081915
Marvez szerint Poz elsősorban Bradley miatt ment bele a paycutba.
BELIEVE IT OR NOT: Jaguars middle linebacker Paul Posluszny said his belief in Bradley was a major reason he agreed to a restructured contract to stay in Jacksonville. Had he refused, there was a chance Posluszny would have gotten released.

Greg Cosee (NFL Films)
Blake Bortles very impressive againbs the Steelers. Calm, composed, totally different. Delivery more compact.Daniel Jeremiah
Good showing for Blake Bortles. MUCH improved footwork. His feet are following his eyes when he works thru progressions. Vision/accuracy ++Még Cecil Shorts is méltatta tegnap
"He's tough. Determined to be great. I think he'll be a superstar in this league. "Peter King Bortlesre fókuszáló írása a tegnapi MMQBban:
Jacksonville: The prettiest ball I’ve seen this summer.Minden Bortlex passz elemzése www.bigcatcountry.com/2015/8/17/9163519/every-blake-bortles-pass-from-friday-nights-preseason-opener a pénteki meccsről:
“I’ve got to show you something,” said GM David Caldwell, putting practice tape on the screen in his office. It was from a night practice that would get mostly rained out in Jacksonville. “This is the kind of play that makes us feel pretty good about Blake Bortles.”
It was a play from a seven-on-seven practice. Seven defenders trying to stop seven on offense, including Bortles. If you watched the Jags—32nd in scoring last year, 15.5 points per game—you know what the offense produced was abysmal, and you know in camp new offensive coordinator Greg Olson is working overtime to make sure a 249-point season doesn’t happen again.
Split right, free-agent wideout Tony Washington lines up head-up on prize free-agent cornerback Davon House. At the snap, Washington burrows into the inside shoulder of House and runs upfield. At about 13 yards, he pivots and cuts to the post. Just as he cuts, and four strides before he turns to look for the ball, Bortles releases the ball. At the split second Washington turns his head to the quarterback, the ball explodes into his hands. He doesn’t have to move his hands. It’s just there.
It’s the kind of big-league throw Aaron Rodgers would make. You cannot make a better throw of the football, 23 yards in the air, with House in tight coverage, the ball so tightly onto Washington that only he could catch it. Or drop it. But he caught it.
“The ball just hit my hands,” Washington said. “I didn’t do anything but catch it.”
“That throw reminded me of a throw Aaron would make,” said House, the ex-Packer. “I saw that same throw in Green Bay. No defending it.”
“All I’m thinking of as I release that ball,” said Bortles, “is ‘Break, break! Please break!’ And he did. A perfect route.”
Here’s how it happened, via Bortles: “A throw like that just comes with reps. And a lot of routes against air, just me and the receiver. You have to get to know each other in the off-season, and in camp. [2014 rookie] Allen Hurns came out to California in the off-season and I threw with him—I bet I threw 100 passes a day for four days, the same throws, over and over. That's how you get good. Last year, as a rookie, I felt like we were more of a college all-star team, with everybody just getting to know everyone—how they ran routes, how I threw the ball. But a play like that is pretty rewarding. Very rewarding. It’s pretty cool. When I see Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, I see quarterbacks who throw receivers open.”
I asked Bortles what he was thinking when he made the throw on the field. Exhilaration, maybe? Satisfaction? Or maybe that he finally was arriving at the place where good quarterbacks were?
“I thought, Good throw. Onto the next one now.”
Good answer. For a young quarterback, it’s always about the next throw, and building on the good ones.

Pár érdekesség Hallorentől a tegnapi meccsel kapcsolatban:Analysis of the Jaguars’ 23-21 preseason win over the Pittsburgh Steelers Friday:Remélem semmilyen apróságot nem hagyott ki. 😀
Offense
*Notable play-time totals: RG Brandon Linder 31, QB Blake Bortles 29, TE Clay Harbor 30, C Luke Bowanko 29, WR Allen Robinson 20, WR Allen Hurns 19, TE Marcedes Lewis 12 and TE Julius Thomas 2.
*in Bortles’ 29 snaps, the Jaguars used 22 different formations. Among the personnel groupings, the Jaguars had two tight ends on the field 15 times and three tight ends on five snaps.
*On passes that didn’t travel across the line of scrimmage, Bortles was 3-of-3 for 40 yards. On passes that traveled 10 or more yards downfield, he was 2-of-4 for 42 yards.
*The Jaguars’ run game was solid behind the first-team offensive line. Denard Robinson had a 10-yard carry (solid block from RT Jermey Parnell) and RB Toby Gerhart did good work after contact (all four yards on his initial carry).
*Bortles was sacked when LB James Harrison beat LT Luke Joeckel to the outside in 2.81 seconds. It looked like Joeckel was excepting a bull rush, but Harrison used a rip move to get around the corner.
*On Bortles’ 15-yard pass to Allen Robinson to convert a third-and-14, the protection was stellar – he threw in 3.56 seconds.
*Bortles showed his athleticism during the second drive. On third-and-11, Pittsburgh ran a zone pressure, blitzing a corner from his face-side. The Steelers had two free rushers when Parnell blocked inside and Gerhart ran a pass route. Bortles calmly stepped up but threw high to Harbor at the 2-yard line.
*Gerhart’s 19-yard screen was a perfect play call because Pittsburgh blitzed a linebacker who would have been available to help on Gerhart. Bowanko, Joeckel and LG Zane Beadles had downfield blocks and Gerhart gained eight yards after contact.
*Harbor, Hurns and RB Bernard Pierce dropped passes from Bortles.
*Time Bortles had to throw on his 11 completions (in seconds): 2.84, 2.06, 3.56, 1.29, 2.56, 2.69, 2.10, 2.25, 1.53, 2.97 and 2.28.
*WR Arrelious Benn had a nice block on the bubble screen to Allen Robinson that gained 10 yards.
*The second offensive line: LT Josh Wells, LG A.J. Cann, C Stefen Wisniewski, RG Austin Pasztor and RT Sam Young.
Defense
*Notable play-time totals: DT Michael Bennett 55, LB Thurston Armbrister 38, DE Ryan Davis 20, CB Aaron Colvin 17, CB Davon House 17, FS Sergio Brown 16, DE Andre Branch 11, LB Paul Posluszny 7.
*The first unit played 17 snaps over three drives. On eight Pittsburgh drop-backs, the Jaguars rushed four players seven times and had one five-man pressure. SS Johnathan Cyprien and LB Telvin Smith both had missed tackles when they took bad angles.
*Cyprien played as long as the other starters did and he showed no sign of the fractured finger injury he was diagnosed with after the game.
*The Jaguars started the game in nickel (five defensive backs), but Colvin is clearly the current starter opposite House. In nickel, CB Demetrius McCray played outside and Colvin slid inside.
*On the Steelers’ second play (second-and-4), Colvin gave RB Le’Veon Bell seven yards of cushion. Bell ran past the marker and made an easy nine-yard catch.
*The Steelers used seven blockers against the Jaguars’ four pass rushers on Ben Roethlisberger’s 44-yard touchdown pass to Martavis Bryant, who caught it at the 13-yard line. Big Ben had 2.53 seconds to throw and on the two-point conversion, he had 5.24 seconds.
*The first pass-rushing group was Branch and Chris Smith at end and Davis and Tyson Alualu at tackle.
*The second-unit nickel group was McCray, CB Dwayne Gratz, CB Rashaad Reynolds, S Josh Evans and S Craig Loston
*DE Cap Capi’s first sack came when he stunted inside and the Steelers were late reacting. His second sack was a clean win over right tackle Kevin Palmer.
Special teams
*Amazingly, coach Gus Bradley said the special teams had only 10 players on the field on four different occasions.
*Rashad Greene’s 37-yard punt return: Hang time of 4.50 seconds by P Brad Wing. LaRoy Reynolds had the first big block. Impressive was Greene’s decisiveness – he shot straight up the field without trying to out-juke anybody.
*K Josh Scobee’s opening kickoff had 3.69 seconds of hang time and was a touchback. P Bryan Anger’s first punt was 4.31 seconds.
*Harbor, Reynolds and CB Tommie Campbell played on both return and both coverage units. Playing on three units were Loston, Benn and LB Jeremiah George.

Jaguars tight end Julius Thomas is “pretty hopeful,” the broken bone in his right hand will be healed well enough for him to play in the regular season opener against Carolina Sept.
“Right now, it’s just a healing situation,” he said in the locker room today. “Hopefully, it if goes really well, I’m back before then, running around and feeling great.”
Thomas was injured on the Jaguars’ second offensive snap Friday night against Pittsburgh. The injury will be re-evaluated in two weeks.
Thomas caught a 2-yard pass from Blake Bortles and was hit by cornerback William Gay. Thomas had just enough time to leave his feet.
“I was able to see him at the last second and I made sure I got my feet off the ground to protect my knees,” Thomas said. “I got flipped over and after the play, everything felt good but I looked down and my finger was a little messed up.”
Thomas figured the finger was dislocated. “I was hoping they could pop it back in and I could keep going, but the doctor wanted to get it looked at,” he said.
The x-Rays showed the fracture. Thomas underwent further tests this morning but no additional damage was discovered.
The injury could have been worse had Thomas not left his feet.
“I’d rather break a bone in my hand than my leg,” he said. “Those plays are tough. You have to make sure you get your feet off the ground.”
Thomas said he will resume conditioning soon and feels he has reached a good familiarity level with the offense.
“The good thing is, it’s not going to stop me from running around and I’ll participate in all that I can,” he said. “I feel pretty good in the system.”
