Nos, amikor Hurns idén nem tudott idén játszani a Titans ellen, akkor franchise rekordot jelentő 5 TDt passzolt Blake. 😊 Mondhatni nem éreztük meg a hiányát. Azért van egy Julius Thomasunk, aki egyre jobban összeszokik Bortlesszel, Greene sem tűnik elveszett embernek, és ott van még Walters, Albinó, Sterling vagy az IRen lévő Benn mint lehetséges opciók.
Yeldon kiesését sokkal jobban megérzi az O jelenleg, mint mondjuk Hurnsét.

Szerintem momentán kár belemenni jövendölésbe, meg kell nézni, hogy kiket sikerül leigazolni tavasszal (a védelembe).

Azért ez elég sommás vélemény. Nem csak a garbage time húzza fel Bortles teljesítményét. Amúgy klasszikus garbage time csak a Pats és Saints ellen volt. Rengeteget fejlődött Blake.

Ha Mustaine-t kérdezed, akkor Hurns oka a dolognak. Előszezonban mutatott két cselt A-Robnak, azóta ontja a yardokat és TD-ket. A Fal se szerepel rosszul, hiszen mire a snap Blake kezébe kerül Hurns már tisztára játszotta magát 20+ yard távolságban és könnyű célpontot biztosít. És természetesen Bortles is attól ilyen jó, hogy egy future HOF elkapó (Hurns) dolgozik annyira alá, hogy szinte a lelátóra felvágni szándékozott labdákat is lehúzza és aztán hozzátesz még 20-30 yardot lábon.😊 😊 😊

Elnézve a jövő évi ellenfelek listáját, nagyons sűrű szezon lesz. Szinte mindegyik csapat, vagy felszálló ágban van, vagy olyan rutinos, akik fél lábú, fél szemű irányítóval is simán hozza a meccseket. Azt kell mondani, hogy talán az AFC South meccsek lesznek a legkönnyebbek... Nyilván lehet találni egy-egy wint, de ha nem lesz értelmes FA mozgás, szerintem elég necces lesz rookie def emberekkel elsőre összetenni a védelmet (főleg ha a stáb is új lesz, és hogy a tavalyi "fő" pick is első évét fogja megkezdeni)... részemről az idei 4-5 win az előrejelzés, persze ne legyen igazam...

Bortlesnek nem csak a passzolt yardok franchise csúcsa lehet meg vasárnap, hanem a sikeres passzol rekordja is. Az elsőhöz 179, a másodikhoz 17 jó passz kell. Egyik sem megoldhatatlan.

Odrick volt MRIn, nem mutatott semmit szerencsére a vizsgálat. Parnellről nem hallottam új infót. Gust többek közt arról is kérdezték, nem-e pihentetünk pár embert, hogy nehogy megismétlődjön az, ami tavaly ilyenkor Marksszal történt. Gus azt monbdta, még nem merült fel ez a téma.

Egyelőre ügyesen kikerülte Gus a válaszadást azzal kapcsolatban, hogy tudja-e hogy biztosan megtartják az állásában.

Van erre egy teóriám, hogy Caldwell is picit sáros abban, hogy a D, különösen a DB sor miért ennyire gyenge. Vagy ma, vagy holnap megírom, kicsit sűrűn alakul nekem az év utolsó 4 napja.

Offense terén egész frankón alakulnak a dolgok, futójátékot kell még kicsit begyújtani, Bortles turnovereit csökkenteni és JT jobban bevonni esetleg.

Védelem terén viszont pass rush és CB-kre kellene ráfeküdni és akkor nem kellene az offensenek minden meccsen 30 pont h meccset nyerjetek.

JT bevonása egyre jobban halad. Több elkapása van már idén kevesebb meccsen, mint tavaly Denverben.

És leginkább egy nagyon jó FS hiányzik jelenleg tőlünk a Dben a pass rusherek mellett. Persze 1 vagy 2 CB sem árt majd.

After year of rehab, Dante Fowler focused on being a force for Jaguars

Rehabilitating on a side field as teammates practiced 100 yards away? Initially distracting until he learned to focus on his work.

Taking the end-of-week game-plan exam even though he wasn’t playing? It helped him get comfortable with the playbook.

Putting together video clips of opponents to present to the defensive linemen? Part of becoming a pro.

But watching the Jaguars play early in the season? Brutal. Emotional. Gut-wrenching.

When the Jaguars opened against Carolina, the usually upbeat, always-smiling Dante Fowler was hit with an emotional sledgehammer. On the day he was to make his NFL debut and begin to show why he was drafted third overall, he was a spectator.

As the game began, so did Fowler’s tears.

“I couldn’t handle it,” he says. “I play with my heart on my sleeve and am so passionate and love the game and dreamed about this as a kid, and here it finally was, and I wasn’t able to be on the stage that I needed to be on.”

Just as quickly, Fowler flipped the script. He overcame the frustrations in September and began to buckle down.

“It’s made me stronger as a player, as a pro, as a person,” he says.

Welcome to Fowler’s rookie year. He hasn’t played a snap after tearing his left anterior cruciate ligament May 8 one hour into the opening mini-camp practice. He was on crutches for nearly three months. And he only recently started jogging.

“I was so blindsided by it,” Fowler told the Times-Union after a Christmas Eve workout in his first interview since the day after he was injured. “My first practice, all of the expectations that I was going to have on me, the things I wanted to accomplish. … For it not to happen, it sucked.”

Nearly eight months later, Fowler is on track to be available for the start of the Jaguars’ organized team activities in May. While rehabilitating his knee, he has added strength and now weighs 260 pounds, up 10 pounds from his time at the University of Florida.

The goal: Don’t just be ready for the Jaguars’ Sept. 11, 2016, opener - be a force.

“I’ll be here the whole off-season with the strength coaches and trainers getting right and getting after it,” Fowler says. “I still haven’t seen the light. Whenever the doctors clear me, that’s when I’ll see it. Until then, I’m doing everything I can to get it stronger.”

‘JUST TWISTED IT’

The Jaguars’ 45 sacks in 2014 were sixth-most in the NFL, but general manager Dave Caldwell and coach Gus Bradley envisioned Fowler helping the defense to a new height, making things difficult for Andrew Luck, Marcus Mariota and whoever Houston was going to play at quarterback for years.


Projecting the 2016 edge pass-rusher draft class to be thin and confident in their young corps of receivers, the Jaguars selected Fowler instead of Alabama star Amari Cooper.

But then going against tryout offensive tackle Watts Dantzler, Fowler stuck his leg into the turf ... and the turf won.

“I promise you, when I went down, I didn’t think it was a torn ACL,” Fowler says. “I thought I had just twisted it or something like that. I had heard so many ACL stories and the pain, but it didn’t hurt.”

Fowler left the field and was soon headed for an MRI exam. The Jaguars’ fears were confirmed, and Fowler admits he was “so shocked,” when told the diagnosis.

After the practice, general manager Dave Caldwell called his wife to cancel plans to attend an event that night at TPC Sawgrass. He and coach Gus Bradley visited Fowler at the hospital.

“We didn’t know exactly what had happened so there was a little bit of hope,” Bradley recalls. “But then there was concern for him. He was hurt, he didn’t have anybody here, he didn’t know anybody here - it was tough. At the hospital, he was pretty good that night. He was saying, ‘I’m going to come back.’ His attitude was great.”

Asked when he stopped mourning Fowler’s injury, Caldwell half-confessed/half-quipped: “I don’t know - I still might be.”

The early part of a player’s recovery from any major injury is full of pratfalls.

He can’t move around. He can’t practice/work out with teammates. Fowler was no different.

“One night, it was probably 2 1/2 to 3 months after the surgery, I still had a brace on it and it was the worst sleep I’ve ever gotten,” he says. “I looked out the window one night and said, ‘I think I’m good,’ and I tried to bend my leg. I couldn’t do it. I got so upset.”

And then there was the time Fowler slipped outside his downtown Jacksonville apartment and fell to the concrete.

“I was still on crutches, and one of them slipped and I figured I would be able to hold my balance by coming down on my [injured] leg a little bit,” he says. “But then I collapsed.

“I had been in control of my body and how I played and how I moved, but I wasn’t anymore. I just thought, ‘Damn this sucks.’ ”

WANT-TO ATTITUDE

What stunk in the preseason, when the games didn’t count, and during the two months of the regular season when the Jaguars dug themselves a 1-5 hole, was how much their pass rush missed Fowler.

The Jaguars couldn’t disrupt the quarterback with a four-man pass rush. Hoping to squeeze another half-dozen or so sacks from Chris Clemons, 34, didn’t happen - he has three sacks. Hoping Andre Branch would emerge in his contract year hasn’t happened - he has four sacks. The Jaguars’ 33 sacks are tied for 16th in the NFL.

Fowler said he has been driven by some of the Jaguars’ struggles. When he debuts, he wants to make a difference.

“It motivates me - I want to be able to elevate the play of not just the line but the whole 11,” he says. “When everything hear clicks and we play off each other, then things will get rolling.”

To give Fowler a chance to be successful next year, they wanted him around this year. He attends the meetings. He has learned the team’s computer system so he can put together cut-ups of plays.

“We wanted to make sure he learned the package and how the defensive linemen here get prepared,” defensive line coach Todd Wash says.

Wash has been impressed by Fowler’s want-to attitude even though he has a can’t-play-yet reality.

“He’s a kid that wants to do what’s right for his teammates,” Wash said. “That type of personality, you can’t go wrong with.”

Says defensive tackle Roy Miller: “We’ve tried to keep him involved with everything, whether it’s here in the meetings or at dinner. We’ve seen him down when he got hurt, but ever since then, he’s been climbing.”

MANAGING EXPECTATIONS

Those Jaguars fans who wore Fowler’s No. 56 jersey to the team’s seven EverBank Field games this year - he has noticed you.

“That’s still weird to me; so weird,” Fowler says. “I wore Ray Lewis and Derrick Brooks and Jevon Kearse jerseys and now I have an NFL jersey? That’s still not real to me at all.

“This is a great franchise, and the fans have been awesome to me. I love them. Through the good and bad times, they’re still with us.”

When he gets onto an NFL field for the first time, Jaguars fans will have high expectations. But within the organization, the goals will be realistic.

Edge rushers sometimes take a year or two to find their groove. Kansas City’s Justin Houston had 5 1/2 sacks as a rookie and then 10 sacks. Oakland’s Khalil Mack had four last year and now leads the NFL with 15.

“Even when he comes back, it’s not going to be an easy haul for him,” Caldwell says of Fowler. “He won’t be the same Dante Fowler [right away], so it will be a transition. We just have to be patient with him and have our bases covered and that’s he’s up to speed.”

All parties want Fowler to practice regularly in camp and play in the preseason games. But don’t think for a second the Jaguars are pinning all of their hopes on him; look for them to be active in free agency and in the draft looking for a pass rusher.

While the Jaguars’ decision-makers are evaluating potential additions, Fowler will be a regular at EverBank Field this off-season and said he will visit Dr. James Andrews, who performed his surgery, in Pensacola for follow-ups.

Starting to jog is another step in the process.

“You take baby steps, and then some things like running and cutting will all come fast,” Fowler says. “When I started jogging, I was scared that I was going to be limping as I got back into it. I was surprised, actually, I was shocked, with how I was running.”

All Jaguars fans have to go on with Fowler is his dazzling-at-times Florida highlights. Asked what the long-suffering supporters can expect next fall, he smiles.

“They’re going to see a lot of energy,” he says. “I’ll get them up rocking. It will be fun.”
