Good:
In Arnette, the Raiders are getting a twitchy, fundamentally sound corner with tons of experience in bump-and-run coverage who could play inside, outside, off-man and even zone. His competitive nature jumps off the screen. He even played most of the season with a cast on his arm. I talked with an Ohio State coach who said, “(Arnette) is the most competitive player I’ve seen at Ohio State in all my years there.” There were times when he was overaggressive and wrestled with receivers after the snap. That has to stop, but it’s easier to coach a player to calm down than it is to light a fire under his butt.

Arnette has exceptional play strength and routinely pinned receivers to the sideline. He was able to do this against much bigger receivers, like Clemson’s Justyn Ross, a likely first-round pick next year...Arnette did this consistently throughout the season.

Arnette has loose hips and transitions smoothly when changing directions. In man-to-man, he sticks into the hip pocket of receivers and plasters them when they break. In zone, he can fluidly zig and zag to cover ground.

Arnette is an excellent tackler. He looks like he enjoys contact and actively seeks it out. He takes good angles and rarely misses tackles.

Arnette lacks length but made plays on the ball when he was both in-phase and out-of-phase. Being in-phase means that a defensive back is in a good position to cover his assignment and is able to look back at the quarterback to locate the ball. Being out-of-phase means that a defensive back is trailing his assignment and is unable to get his head around until he gets into a better position.

Ohio State began to play more zone coverage this season and although Arnette had some growing pains early, he showed the smarts and breaking ability to be an effective zone defender.

According to PFF, Arnette allowed only a 44.6 completion percentage last season. He didn’t allow a single touchdown and allowed the lowest passer rating in single coverage in this draft class. Some of these numbers have to be taken with a grain of salt, though. Arnette had the benefit of playing with one of the best pass rushes in college football with a defensive line that included Chase Young, who was drafted second overall by Washington. Also, cornerback Jeff Okudah, who was drafted No. 3 by Detroit, was usually matched up on an opposing team’s No. 1 receiver. Still, Arnette’s stats were impressive and reflected his improvement in regards to taking care of his body and improving his technique.

Bad:
Arnette’s impatience when playing press was notable. Too often, he would open his hips early. By sliding outside too early and not jamming with his off-hand, he gave free access to receivers to the inside. This problem also showed up when he played off coverage. His right arm was injured but even when he played on the right side, he wasn’t jamming consistently with his left arm. The combination of opening up his hips without an off-hand jam to slow down receivers made it too easy to get inside.

As a result of his inconsistency with his jams and his lack of length, Arnette had to grab at receivers.

Another area in which Arnette’s lack of length showed up was when the ball was in the air. For the most part, he was good when the ball was in the air but he really had to lean into receivers and made a lot of contact before the ball arrived.

I can understand why Mike Mayock and Gruden fell in love with Arnette. He fits the profile of a “Gruden Grinder” with his unrelenting competitive nature. And he’s a scheme fit for defensive coordinator Paul Guenther’s bump-and-run heavy scheme. His long speed and length are questionable but there weren’t many examples of him getting burned on film. While he doesn’t have the athletic profile of an elite prospect like his teammate, Okudah, he looks to have a high floor because if it turns out that he doesn’t have the speed to play outside, he has the makings of a high-level, pesky nickel corner.

eddigi Raiders UDFA-k:

Dominik Eberle, K (Utah State)
George Mariner, WR (Utah State)
Nick Bowers, TE (Penn State)
Mike Panasiuk, DT (Michigan State)
Javin White, LB (UNLV)
Madre Harper, CB (Southern Illinois)
Liam McCullough, LS (Ohio State)

sajnos a többiekről nem tudok semmit.

1/12: Henry Ruggs III WR, Alabama

Overall, Ruggs displays the twitchy speed and quick, confident hands to be a dangerous offensive weapon, also offering the high-level competitiveness and special teams skills that will lead to early playing time.

A much better route runner than given credit for, he has the ability to stop on a dime in order to change directions without any extra needed steps. Ruggs III can win in the short-to-intermediate areas of the field as well. His speed forces defenses to guard every blade of grass, but even when doing so, he can leave tread marks on the playing surface from how fast he runs in an instant, Ruggs III is in line to become a top-15 selection and a prospect that can be an instant impact type of threat because of how translatable his skill set is into today’s game.

1/19: Damon Arnette CB, Ohio State

Overall, Arnette is a charged-up run defender and boasts the athletic traits to stay hiptohip with receivers at all depths of the field, projecting as a man-to-man NFL starterif his reported maturation checks out.

Damon Arnette is a Day 1 corner prospect for teams looking for a starter in press coverage, which should be every team in the league. The only concern with Damon Arnette's pro projection is the time it took for him to develop into a starter, as Arnette was a rare senior in the Ohio State secondary given his shaky junior performance. However, in his final season, Arnette displayed an aggressive approach to press coverage that allowed him to win by disrupting route timing early and crowding route stems in the short game. Arnette doesn't have elite speed and can lose own downfield routes, but his transitional quickness and hip mobility allow him a full range of short-area recovery, and he has tremendous ball skills at the catch point at all angles. Arnette should start in Year 1 in the league and find success as long as he keeps light feet at the line of scrimmage.

3/16: Lynn Bowden WR, Kentucky

Overall, Bowden is an unpolished pass catcherand must improve the specifics of the position to reach his full potential, but he bringsversatile and instinctive playmaking skills to the slot and return game.

Lynn Bowden projects in the short term as a gadget player in the NFL — although there is the ceiling to develop into something much more with focus on specialization as a receiver. Bowden was pressed into action as an option QB in 2019, which took away valuable opportunities to work on polishing his route running skills. In all, Bowden is an exciting open field athlete with natural play making ability. Long-term projection is into slot, where his quickness can shine.

3/17: Bryan Edwards WR, South Carolina

Overall, Edwards needs to honehis technique and reliability finishing catches, but his athleticskilland physicalityas a pass catchermake him a potential NFL weapon, especially over the middle of the field.

Bryan Edwards projects as a strong candidate to serve as a complimentary starter at the NFL level. Edwards may be best off as a "big slot" target, he frequently won his routes from the slot as a middle of the field receiver and struggled most with separation when trying to press and sell vertically on the boundary. Edwards shows some strong nuance to aid his route running ability and has physically dominant tendencies at the catch point. If he can sure up his hands, his ceiling grows.

3/36: Tanner Muse S/LB, Clemson

Overall, Muse doesn’t have the athletic skill set to survive in coverage vs. proweapons, but his straight-line speed, diagnose skills and toughness could make him a hired gun on special teams coverages and backup linebacker.

Clemson’s Tanner Muse enters the NFL with 59 games of experience and 39 starts in college where he primarily played safety. With that said, his role in Brent Venables defense showcased his versatility and frequently played him in the box where I believe his best fit is at the next level. Muse’s urgency, speed, size and physicality are best utilized as a weakside linebacker in a 4-3 defense in a pursuit style role. His experience at safety will serve him well in coverage where he should hold his own in the NFL. Muse does have to develop and adjust to life as a full-time linebacker but his proven special teams ability should give him the time needed to transition and excel. At a minimum, Muse should be a quality special teamer and sub package defender but he has the upside to start by year 2/3 as a 4-3 WILL.

4/3: John Simpson OG, Clemson

Overall, Simpson is built to be a road-grader and dominates his square due to his girthy body and brute power, projecting asastarter-level NFL prospectwith room to get better.

Clemson offensive guard John Simpson enters the NFL after starting the last two seasons for the Tigers. The notable part of Simpson's game is his devastating play strength. He blends heavy hands, a powerful upper body, good core strength and powerful legs to create strong vertical push in the run game. His anchor is stout and nobody is going through him. With that said, his lateral mobility, foot speed and overall tightness present some challenges when working out in space, mirroring rushers and redirecting. Simpson is a scheme-specific prospect that profiles as a starting guard in a gap power run scheme.

4/33: Amik Robertson CB, Louisiana Tech

Overall, Robertson won’t meet the size benchmarks for several NFL teams, but his foot quickness, diagnose skills and nose forthe football make him a prime candidate for nickel work, displaying the toughness to see meaningful snaps from Day 1.

Amik Robertson has many of the attributes needed to shine as a starting nickel corner in the NFL where his feisty competitive demeanor, anticipation, physicality, run defense and ball skills would truly shine and his lack of size won’t be an issue. Robertson offers versatility in man and zone coverage but there are size and speed restrictions that present some matchup challenges if tasked with tight ends or bigger slots. Robertson has that junkyard dog mentality when competing and his ball skills are outstanding, making his tape is easy to love. His style of play could lead to some injury issues but he should carve out a prominent slot role early in his career.
